Random Events! :D

Ohai! :)

This has been discussed before undoubtedly, but has anyone ever considered having "event days"? Days where random **** just happens because it can? Really, we need MOAR disaster to help make the game more life-like (i.e., abundance of rare minerals in a Highsec system entices players to rush the new resources with an accompanying loss of security level, while pirates new & old take advantage of the new hunting grounds ). I'll list a few examples to make it clear:

-CONCORD drones malfunction across the universe , making everything nullsec for 24 hours.

-Sansha Kuvakei himself decides to show up in Jita in a stolen fleet of Eidolons just because he's a badass

-A rift in space causes ABCM asteroids to appear in the starter systems just because they can

-A small corporation of less than 10-20 people comes into unexpected possession of Enigma fighters that dissolve after a day of use. They also get universal kill rights :D

- A star in a rarely-visited system (Say, in the Bleak Lands) goes supernova, which destroys all the planets and bases. It becomes a single -1.0 in Amarr space and it has the richest resources around, along with wormholes and scan sites.

-CCP forms a fleet of OP ships and kicks our ass (They did this beforehand and got their asses handed to them)

etc

It doesn't even have to be these, I just made these up in ten seconds, but the idea of having random events I think has real merit. Is it bad if something goes against the status quo or desirable? After all, Eve can and does get boring if you do one thing for too long, and having some random disasters would spice things up a bit, you know, throw a wrench into the machine. Give players a common goal and a purpose. What do you think?

The pie is a tautology

Your thread is now experiencing a random troll attempt.

Here is a random EVE link that will not make any sense because it is random.

Another useful random link is the "Random Page" link on the Goonwiki. I've provided it for you game enhancement.

Considering that you probably don't have a login for the Goonwiki, here's the regular Wikipedia Random Page link.

And just in case you're not feeling sufficiently randomized, here's a completely random number from 1 to 10: 3

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

Great idea. I especially like the one where all of New Eden gets null-sec status for a day, though I think they would have to exclude the starter systems
Super nova is a good idea too, though it would best be done in one of the many systems which have no stations, and would need to include a good week or so of warning (far less than an actual star gives) so people who are paying attention can remove their POS's. However the systems would need to somehow return to normal.
The supernova idea does touch on a mechanic that would be nice to have, and that is for star systems to be a little more dynamic. The universe may not change fast, but it does change.

I LOVE these ideas. Especially the one with supernova. New Eden does indeed need more life - though I understand that in null-sec adrenalin and these kind of life event are more visible everyday.

But as carebear I wouldn't mind see something crazy going on with Concord (though not so apocalyptic as described by OP). Stuff like random graphic cosmic events, rare ores or player-friendly titan that flies through hi-sec just for parade - these little things! But nothing at all that would push the game into un-balance mode.

Small things - pure for game immersion - like music, graphic style, font - stuff like that - can be brought even deeper by using supernova explosions, opening the rifts, random radio communicatons, ice cosmic catastrophies, wrecks of wonder etc.

The best description of what type of "life" New Eden needs is changed Jita monumental. The universe actually reacting in small ways, visible even for carebears.

I'm Caroline Grace, and this is my favorite musical on the Citadel.

One day I randomly jumped into lowsec and there just so happened to be a bunch of people there firing their guns around randomly but sort of mostly in my general direction.

Lol, randum.

On a more serious note, the diversity of player made content is what makes Eve special.

You yourself could make more events happening, instead of asking for CCP to make them.

Like, for example, putting a POS up and actually defending it, instead of letting it get killed.

I have 1,000 Rifters in my possession. Thinking about doing an event in a random low sec system soon. Does that count?
