Suicide Dreads

I've heard of people using 'Suicide Dreads' to kill carriers, obviously the idea is to kill the carrier and probably die trying. (From the carriers reinforcements I guess?)

I just have some random questions...

Which do you think would be better, a buffer dread, or an active one?
I assume a buffer would be better since you'll be low on cap after just jumping in, though, I'm curious to see what others think and am looking for opinions.

A Carrier has less hp than a Dread, but is most likely active tanked, and has much less dps than a Dread.
If there is one, which is the best Dread for suicide ganking?

I can almost fly a Phoenix.
(Note: I know it will take time to learn all the skills.)
Do you think this fit would suffice?

BC2 x4
DC2

T2 Sensor Booster x3
T2 Invul Field
T2 Photon Field
T2 Warp Disrupter
T2 Web

Shock 'Limos' Citadel Torp Launcher x2 (Guristas Trauma Citadel Torps) (Is 7000 dps enough to kill a Carrier?)
Caldari Cloak (For going deep 0.0)
Siege Mode ll

Large Field Extender l x3 (Yes I realize it would take forever to regain cap)

356,455 shields 70/51/63/69 resists
Approx 15 second lock time on a Carrier

Thanks for any advice, in advance!

Cheers,

Also, focus on gank, not on defence if you intend to lose it anyway. (ie. change rigs and midslots)

Anyways, it sounds like a niche market you are entering into that could turn into an expensive hobby if that scenario you depicted happens frequently.

Why would you suicide a dread on a carrier? The dread is twice as expensive.

Maybe they were talking about fleets of dread killing a titan.

I know Goons killed that Raiden. titan with a large number of insured "suicide dreads" so it would work for killing supercapitals so I could see where it comes from, not a terrible idea i suppose.

Keep one invuln, get some target painters and some rigor rigs (do they work on capital weapons?) to increase your DPS

How much herp could a herp derp derp if a herp derp could herp derp.

you drop 1/3 dps just to cloak? Roll maybe you should forget about flying caps for the time being
Suicide dreads refer to throwing large number of insured dreads against supercaps or using your dread to kill a jumpfreighter that just jumped in to a hostile POS
Carrier is less expensive then dread so why risk it? Besides, carrier would just laugh at your citadel torps as he speedtanks them and then drifts out of range of your disruptor or torps

According to eft, 6k dps phoenix deals 1200 dps to moving thanatos. With 1 rep, 4 hardeners and eanm it can reps 1800 dps for 18 minutes. Rats could help you, but it's still milion ehp to chew. And help is on its way.

I need new signature.

Phoenix is a terrible dread, only useful for shooting structures.

This is what you use them for, not some random carrier. And the goal is to shoot energy neut and warp disruption mods afterwards to try escaping.

More like 16, to get 20 you need meta guns and faction mag stabs

I think this is quite an exaggeration. Compared to other missile ships the Phoenix is even in a good position imho:

- it deals maximum damage (10k DPS) against super capitals, moving or not
- it deals maximum damage against sieged dreads
- it deals maximum damage against triaged carriers
- it deals maximum damage against a dual webbed and painted moving carrier
- it deals ~2300 DPS against a dual webbed and painted Abaddon (yes, the shield Moros would instapop or dual volley it)

So I guess a turret dread is better for solo PvP and sub capital rampage Big smile

In exchange for this 'disadvantage' I get:

- cap less weapons
- selectable damage types (kinda)
- top damage projection
- very strong tank because of perfect tank&gank distribution of shield tanking ships

1.55mil Hull EHP...PERFECTLY balanced resists...60% Twisted...cap proof tank...also HILARIOUS tank...can you imagine the guys shooting you thinking, sweet hes in structure, we got him now!

12500+ DPS overheated...at ~40km optimal, 5200dps at 126km optimal...switch to any distance/dps profile you want via crystals...this is invaluable when your target moves away or if you cyno in at a weird spot, or if you get bumped etc etc etc...it also means you can get cynoed in out of heavy neut range....

I can not stress how useful the whole crystals instantly switching range is when you siege and can NOT MOVE.

Also, real men hull tank.

I think this fit is cool! I mean if you're expecting it to die why not hull tank?

One problem. You stole the name of my Abaddon you jerk! I would offer up 'Wrath of God' but I'm going to use that for my Archon so its taken as well.

You can have 'Angst of God' Cool
