-2.4 sec status, annoyed

Hey everyone.

ive been on and off eve for awhile now. 8 years to be exact. I have one main character from 2004 and last year or so through some unfortunate choices, i now have my sec status at -2.4. I would really like to get into eve online for the long haul. However my -2.4 sec status makes it hard to go into higher sec places.

my question is, should i put in the time to increase my sec status and what is the fastest way to do that?

or, to really enjoy eve should i just create a new character? Im not sure what to do. I would love to get into this game but my -2.4 sec status is like a dark cloud over my head.

thanks

Pretty sure just training the Social skill 'Diplomacy' to level 4 will sort out most of your issues.

Otherwise I'd spend the time righting your sec status - you're only going to be grinding missions with your new toon for a while, so why not just do it with your well-trained, established one instead?

Diplomacy does not affect your sec status. If your able running a few lvl4 missions will fix it. Or run anomalies, our belt rats. There is a skill that helps with gaining sec status, forgot the mange but its under "social" category

The CSM XI Election are now open until March 25th, 2016. Consider Niko Lorenzio for CSM XI.

Fast Talk is what you're looking for, that by itself will do the trick.

You gain sec status by killing most NPCs (there's some exceptions) so just do normal missions or rat in low sec or 0.0 for a bit and you'll be in the plus again soon enough.

Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

Fastest way do increase sec status, IIRC, is to take a SB out to 0.0 and kill one BS rat in each system. Due to the way sec gains work, only the biggest NPC kill you've had per system per 15 min counts; so killing one big NPC in each system and then moving on is a very quick way to increase it.

Ah okay.. I heard that as well but was wondering if it still held true, thanks for clarifying.

I have Fast Talk Rank 2 right now, so I'll keep training that and see how it goes.

Thanks Everyone.

All you need to get everywhere in highsec is more than -2.0, so you have essentially very little sec status to go.

Yep, once you reach -1.9 or better you can acces every single system in EVE again without being hunted by CONCORD. And this means you also have more ability to get those last negative numbers away.

And yes, BS chaining in null-sec still works to get your sec status up, just set up a loop of systems that take around 15min to cycle and your good to go. Kill a BS in each (or biggest you can find within reasonable time) and move on to the next. This loop will make you get sec-standings pretty easy.

As said once at -1.9 and higher you will be able to access all high-sec systems, the only ones the police chase you at the moment are 1.0 systems, you're fine in .9 and lower so gaining sec status will be easy, just mission out of at .9 or lower system for a bit until your sec status is up again, shouldn't take long at all. DONT trash you're character, getting those .5 points will take at the very most an hour or two.
