Just wanted to start getting into PvP with small fleets or solo. What should I do to start this process realizing I will experience quite a few losses lol.

To start off with:

A punisher with ACs fitted works well as a cheap frig fit. The retribution will work well too and will be able to take advantage of your laser skills. For a cruisers the arbitrator is a decent solo ship.

The punisher is a fine ship, I like it better than the rifter, and it works great with ac's, however with your cap skills lasers will work too (not as easy as ac's though). The navy slicer is a fine ship as well, though not as cheap as a punisher.

It's not a bad idea to read some of the pvp blogs/guides out there or find some good pvpers that can help show you the ropes, maybe even join a pvp training corp (or just a corp willing to train you), I don't know what corps are still around but i'm sure someone here will.

Last thing, train Advanced Weapon Upgrades to V, it will help out immensely with ship fittings

edit: Almost forgot, the most important thing for being a solo pilot is knowing your enemies ship as well as you know your own. Learn all you can about how ships (not just what you like to fly) are fit and flown

You already have a good approach in just accepting to lose a lot of ships. Do that and you'll grow better all by yourself.
Stay level-headed and don't worry about pixels blowing up.
I got the impression that a huge percentage of people is so worried about their K/D ratio and internet pixels, they get a condition widely known as 'the shakes' once they're in a fight they're not certain to win and thus make wrong decisions resulting in ship loss.

I agree... I tell people the same... "Get 10-20 fully fit t1 frigs and go lose them all in PVP." Then do some research, watch some videos, and repeat.

I make a lot of PVP Guides and videos my self to help pilots learn faster.

If you have a decent isk pile think about stockpiling mods and ships.

You'll loose quite a few at the start and the most boring part is schlepping to the trade hub to refit. I usualy leave 3 to 5 of my fav frig and two or 3 cruisers ready to roll. Maximizes your fun and minimizes the boring logistics part.
