I realize (at least for me) the main reason to use jump clones is to preserve my implants while I explore and combat in low sec. or areas below .4 security. But the question I have for you seasoned veterans is the placement of the jump clones. Since I have only traveled for the most part in high sec is this where I should place them. Right now I can use 3 jump clones but i don't know where to put them. Should I place them from one end of high sec to the other or try to get a least one in low sec? Do you normally place them in places where you can easily build another ship if needed. I guess what I really want to know is what goes into consideration when placing your clones.

First of all it's very easy to move a jc so if you find that a place is not so good you can just move it somewhere else.

Personally I don't use jcs to avoid losing implants, I use them to move around between different places where I happen to have ships. Atm I have one clone in my high sec staging system, one in my lowsec staging system and one in my 0.0 home plus one extra that is currently in highsec close to the other one.

Now these clones tend to move around a bit depending on what I am currently doing. I have at times had one clone in jita for production I did close by. A clone close you your PI systems (if you PI) can also be useful.

The only real strategy I follow is to always move the jumpclone after creating it, so I can create another later at the same place. Even if in hisec and only moving to a different station in the same system.

I try to keep a jumpclone near at least one major trade hub. Example: I want to go to hisec, so I left my carrier in 0.0 and clone jump to New Caldari (1 jump from Jita).

Jumpclones are also handy for changing implants. Example: I clone jump into a heavy missile implanted clone or a torpedo implanted clone, etc.

I have one clone in highsec with max learning implants for when i'm going to be away from the game and or need to repair my wallet by missioning.

The others move about a bit. It is useful in 0.0 and lowsec to have a clone in a close by station. If you are ever being station camped you can jump clones rather than undock.

I planned to have a clone optimised for cap ships but never got round to it.

I use JC for two different things.

On my datacore farming alt they're spread out to be near to my R&D agents so I can jump, buy datacores and go sell them without having to fly half way round the galaxy. The JC in Jita is also used to do market things as and when I need to.

On my main my JC are very much used to save my implants incase I die. But the clones are also placed where I have ships.

Additionally, for market purposes, you can use the other character slots on your account (if they're free) like bonus jump-clones. I have my spare character slots trained in basic market skills (accounting, broker relations, trade and the other one to get me more market order slots) and they sit in a couple of trade hubs so that I can log-in and change my market orders without having to fly about.
