so im thinking about doing an alt on another acc. wondering what race should i pick , i mean which ships should i fly.

this character is caldari and atm im doing missions, chose caldari cuz of the missiles which are good. less troubling than turrets with optimal range, tracking and ****. but i want something else now.

im not even sure what i wanna do in future. doing missions is really boring way of making money. lost my drake yday cause of that. i would like to do some pvp, small gang, large fleet, militia, whatever.

what are the good sides of other races mainly for pvp, but also pve ? i was thinking about amarr cuz of laz0rs and cool looking ships.

PvP: All races are viable, but Amarr and Minmatar should be your 'best' choice.
PvE: Bit depends on where you run missions and what gameplay you like.

Minmatar are good at PvP, specially the small gang stuff up to avg fleets.
Amarr are really good at really large fleet battles (Blob warfare)

Races:

Caldari:
PvE:
+Missiles always hit (not depending on optimals, tracking, transversal, just plain explosion velocity vs ship velocity)
+Drake is having uber-
+ Tengu is a good versatile mission ship
+ Missiles have changeable damage types

PvP:
+ Logi (Basilisk)
+ Drakes (yes there is always a Drake)
+ Again missiles are always hitting (unless target warps away before missile reach the target)
- Missiles take time to get to targets.

Amarr:
PvE:
+ T1 crystals never run out, so buy a set and as long as you don't loose your ship, they last forever.
+ Insta reloads, no 10seconds (or 5seconds for hybrids) waiting time on switching crystals
- Only EM/Thermal damage, so unless fighting rats in Amarr space you might have trouble breaking them.

PvP:
+ Amarr ships tank like bricks.

Gallente + Minmatar:

Don't have any experience flying minny or Galente ships so I will not judge them as all my info is from what others tell me.

Any, none of the starting race aspects are really going to have any sort of a long term effect outside of how you look. Once it is all said and done, each race starts with about 2-3 days worth of training. Obviously and lengthy time spent on said character will negate that early level training.

The biggest impact you will see on training times will be due to how you arrange your Attribute points which you will likely want to adjust once you have your initial set of implants installed and a large skill plan setup in EvEMon, where you can adjust the Att points to see how they will affect your training times.

TLDR: Starting race only affects your looks and what region you start in.

ok but ships do have a meaning and they make a difference. there must be something better and something worse for pvp.

Ship wise, there are differences, but none if the races are particularly useless when it comes to PvP. The most popular ships for PvP tend to be Minmatar. Note, this does not mean you need to roll a Minmatar race character.

The problem you are going to run into looking for the "perfect race" or the "perfect ship" or the "perfect" anything is that you are essentially playing a massive game of Rock, Paper, Scissors where for every scissor there is a rock and for every rock there is a paper and for every paper there is a scissor. Granted there are some more effective rocks, papers and scissors out there, no ship stands on the tallest pedestal as there will be something to knock it down.

If you are looking for the most popular, either go Minmatar or go Caldari for the Drake and Tengu.

If you want to be really smart about it. Make a new character, get your core Skills trained and while they are training, hop into one of the many PvP corps or schools to find out which fleet role you most like and then focus on the ships that best fill that role.

If you want a good place to start, I suggest OUCH UNI: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2528156
