It seems closer to the new slightly sharper Talos than the older bulbous ships in style.

If all ships are eventually getting a makeover, is this a good direction to be heading in?

Thread seems generally consistent so far with Amarr and Caldari coming out of this well, others not so.

I'm assuming the general reveal of Min/Amarr V3 and updated models will be fanfest at the earliest. Tornado filled me with confidence, new reaper has taken that confidence away What?

Well if you look at some V3-ed caldari and amarr models (Moa, Apocalypse) , you will notice that CCP has removed all x-shaped placeholders for reinforcing bars, antennas and other stuff with transparent background. I think there is technical difficulties behind this and honestly I'm little bit worried while awaiting other winmatar ship changes What?

I honestly see absolutely no difference between the current impairor and the new one. Seriously, it's the exact same model/skin/details. Either they thought it was already perfect, or the art guy was really freaking lazy.

As for the others, they all look ok, the caldari one does look tech 3 I must admit.

I don't like any of them.

They're far too good and smooth for noob ships.

The Velator doesn't look Gallentean, and the Ibis looks far too advanced.

The velator looks more caldari like and the ibis looks more gallentean

Interesting - losing the possibility to have antennae will be missed on the mastodon etc. but at least the vagabond should be helped by this!

Original Maelstrom and Cane concept art had wingy bits like the Tornado, solid and metallic rather than glassy. Maelstrom was wing heavy even then but lack of glassy effect works.

I just wonder why The Mittani is so obsessed with how do look the ships the player will fly for the first 4 hours and never again touch them with a ten feet pole. Question

Also, the Impairor already is one of the coolest looking ships ingame, it doesn't need anything further than V3 it.

Amarr one is fine. It fits perfectly to the other amarrian ship lineup.

Gallente one could use more curved lines like the other ships in the gallentean repertoire.

Ibis looks too advanced for a noobship.

Minmatar one looks like it could actually stay in one piece during maneuvers this time The current one feels like it's literally two ships crashed and bolted together.

This post was rated "C" for capsuleer.

New Ibis makes the current Caldari shuttle look pretty bad, maybe that's where this model is needed? Ibis still needs an update of course.

By the looks of the previews I find the caldari one a bit to smooth and the gallente one a tad edgy.

Glad to see them revamped though, imparior was fine and it hasn't changed much but the others are just underwhelming for the new player.

Flipping awesome. They are spending time revamping newb ships, like 2 years? after mentioning it since the Scorpion.

/sarcasm off

Is this for real or someone just playing with a modeling program? I have been out of the loop the past week. IF its real, CCP's only excuse better be "uh...getting practice in and warming up...its been awhile" since their comment after remodeling the Scopion and every expansion afterwards...should of released new ship models already before the wacky silly new battlecruisers!

So what do you think of the models as you're not infected yet?

Cant say tell they are actually finished. I could rate the shapes though. They are all smoother, rounder, kinder. Impairor is sleek and simple. Ibis is the caldari version of the consumer Hummer, "fly your own real military craft with the new I3". Velator is still gallente art. I'd also approve of the Reapers shapes involved... but it's a staggered miss-sized mess.
Its like the minmatars still cant build for themselves and just make a ship from 3 other ships rather than 3 parts of the same ship duct taped together.

Good post, 'staggered miss-shaped mess' is a great summary. I think these ships need to look cool - textures will help but the basic hull is just pants! Could said artist start again please, a mini cane or anything that is believable would be cool Big smile
