Both are valid, depends on what region you're from.

Side note, actress sounded like speaking isn't something she normally does. Forced accent?

That's just a way of saying people haven't been articulating properly for generations… P

That, or rushed acting, acting in a vacuum and directly into a camera, and saying things that make no sense.

Pretty actress, but delivery was too stiff. She sounds like she's trying to talk to a deaf person who can't hear her.

Also, the "first person view" really needed to feel more "wobbly" - like a person looking around, not just a camera pointed just at her. I know why they didn't do this though - green screening a moving camera and doing the camera motion to match is a royal ***** to do. You need to get a good compositor that can do that easily.

If you did more camera motion it would have felt like a more interactive experience rather than simply staring at her deliver her lines.

I hope she's not the new EVE mascot overall - as much as the eye candy is nice, it's not quite "EVE".

I'm sure this is a foray into a few different experiments, and my props to the hard work put into this - but you need to go farther.

This is a great site for compositing work you should look at : http://spyfilms.com/

Funny one i just saw :

http://spyfilms.com/#/ruairi_robinson/commercials/cniel-monster

Note how the monster is composited with the background motion. You need that with her on the 3d background.

It had a very "dare to be bold" feel. Just without the feel of eve being in it. More like a preview of more action scenes you will never experience. It was enjoyably cheesy however. And for that <3 to CCP.

When I first saw it I didn't like it all all.

But when I saw it on you tube and it seem to have that option to look at further orientation videos in the CQ I imagine it might be a very good addition to people just starting.

So... what could possibly be wrong with using people to advertise a game where the only people you can see it's yourself and the only thing you can do with your avatar is sitting in a couch? Blink

The best thing CCP Punkturis could do to improve trailers is go over to whomever insists on using live action anything in their trailers and slap the nonsene out of them.

I really liked it, I think a lot more stuff like this could generate some good general interest and get more gamers playing. The bit about new players being able to specialise and take part with vets was good, if not entirely true :)

CCP is new to acting and directing, if you think its so easy try it out yourself.
The trailer is fine, but I did giggle when the girl was holding that butt plug in her hand....

oh there will be many parody videos of that one soon, trust me.

maybe it was not their intention but I lol'ed....

UMAD?

On a related note... I think the video was terrible... It has bad acting, bad grammar and an overall stiff and un-natural vibe to it.

Atrocious dialogue
Cheap acting
Canned Motion Graphics

Guys,

if you can't write dialogue, don't.
if you can't afford quality actors, don't use cheap ones.
if you keep using the same motion graphics, they will wear thin.

Your last trailer was a brief return to form - wtf were you smoking to drop this on us? Did we offend you in some way? Was it something we said?

If I recall correctly, the response to the last trailer was fantastic and has already clocked up over half a million hits on YouTube. Did someone in marketing look at those stats and say it isn't good enough? And that you need to spend more money to make the difference? Who is running the marketing team now anyway? Who has made these decisions?

I just cannot believe that you guys all sat around, watched this together and believed it was good enough to post. It's bad enough that you have been filming the developer videos as if they're episodes of CSI, with shaky-cams, fake vignettes and forced bokeh.

Now we have to contend with this tripe?

Stop trying to do something you cannot and get back to in-house tools + hard beats, because all you are doing is proving that you are unnecessary OPEX figures, drawing money from where it is needed; development.

How much did this video cost?
How much did the actress cost?
How much did the camera cost?
Did you actually pay someone to write that dialogue?
Can you get the money back?

Whoever pulled the strings on this video - call me and justify your decisions.

You guys have my number and my email address, and you know where I live - screw it, say the word and I'll buy a first class ticket to Iceland and wax lyrical for three days straight with no bathroom breaks if you want me to - this is terrible guys, just terrible.

And what makes all of this even worse is this:

You have some exceptional talent in the marketing video department - You are better than this, by a factor of thousands.

I liked the idea/concept and what it tries to do, but it was executed poorly. As people have already said, weird acting, or at least voicing (how she says "What are you waiting for" sounds weird) and poor dialogue.

I'm also not sure if this is supposed to be after someone is podded, or upon activating his first clone/becoming the capsuleer, since she`s showing you the many things you can do, because to me, it seems like the capsuleer was podded, and woke up in the clone vat of some 0.0 station, and she is your capturer, telling you what you can do for the alliance. I was half expecting an interrogation at the end.

I don`t know. Weirdly done.

WEIRD-a$$ trailer for sure.

Nothing wrong with the actress or the setting, but.............
All of FIFTEEN seconds of Gameplay are featured. WT Heck were they thinking ?

Anyone stumbling on it will NOT be encouraged to play. MAYBE if they click the link to the second vid which is much better....but it's hard to get a good second First Impression. Cool

I liked the glaxy view - zoom into Jita/wherever graphic, but not the acting.

I've always liked ccp's expansion trailers because they do a good job of introducing and showing off new features in the trailers. Dominion is one of my all-time favorite trailers because they did a good job of creating a 0.0 battle, then right at the end show off the new titan DD.
