No spoons either. A reason for your opinion would be nice.

lolwut? What on earth possessed you to think that was a remotely possibly even slightly decent idea?

Because I knew you'd love it.

It serves no practical purpose other than being another avenue of displaying, albeit flawed, popularity. This function is abused immensely on the "League of Legends" forum that someone compared it to, and I have no reason to believe it would provide anything meaningful here. If you don't like what someone posts, ignore it - it's actually pretty easy. If they continue to perform in a manner you disagree with, put them on your ignore list indefinitely.

However, I would say if you disagree with what someone says, a better way to deal with it is to counter it in an intelligent manner, rather than downvote them and everything they say continuously. I don't need a scale to figure out someone is an idiot, and even an idiot can produce a gem once in awhile, so why give people the impression that what this downvoted person says is any less important than what you say? Let them figure it out themselves.

OK fair enough, in fact a perfect example of what you're advocating. I have no real experience of forums in other games so have never seen one in use before. I hereby officially revoke my idea.

New ideas like this aren't bad in the frame of being a new idea. I think a dislike button is subject to the abuse of the troll mob, but still, different ways to express views can be considered as we have done here, and until we hear them, we can't consider them. *pastes a dislike button on Plop's screen* P

A dislike button would turn the forums into a form of PvP.
