I might be off base, but I find it worrying that the first Ishukone Scorpion skin is being given out as part of the fanfest poker tournament. From all indications, it looks like this will be one of several new ship skins sold through the NEX store.

This is not how we want custom ship skins to be introduced. Tying them to the NEX store - unless they're *dirt* cheap - will basically remove them from PvP due to cost. Rather than having your corp logo and some custom paint slapped on all the ships in your fleet, these skins will end up being confined to station spinning in high sec, waiting to be suicide ganked. The playerbase has been pretty clear about where we stand on NEX.

If I am wrong about this, that's awesome. This thread can be locked and forgotten. If not, it's important that we speak up about this well in advance of the next expansion and let CCP know where we stand. If this is the plan, it also makes it far less likely that an idea like T'amber's custom paint tool will ever be implemented, as it would obsolete these skins. Whenever custom ship skins come out, make it something fun for everyone. Don't implement it in a watered-down form as part of the NEX store.

As much as I'm a fan of yours Chribba, even custom paint via the NEX seems like a bad idea. We should want to go PvP in our painted ship, not hide it in a station since there's no point to ever bring it.

The introduction of these via NEX would set custom ship skins down a very bad starting path. I'd rather something that everyone can enjoy, on ships we can feel ok to go PvP in. I don't think I'm alone in that line of thought.

I think I would rather see BPC's for these sold thru the Nex store instead of finished ships, although certain ones (NPC corp specific) should only have those BPC's available through thier own loyalty store.

And of course everything should be available for resale via the market and contract system.

Maybe if the paint job was cheap in general (like 5 AUR or something), maybe then I wouldn't care much.

Eliminate Arum and sell everything in teh NeX for ISK, the existing, well-established currency in EVE.

CCP already sells shedloads of Plex you can sell for ISK we don't need another currency.

Forget Nex, use the PLEX store to buy plex and trade for isk. Make skins etc. a bought corp item or an LP store item. Corp ones could be constructed like medals (T'Ambers thing is great), and apply them to a module that plugs in to any ship like a rig. This could involve so many players and enrich our game - is the idea of NeX and all that crap really not dead yet?

The problem is they wanted to sell items for a plex without eating an entire plex they didnt want every single pair of pants in eve to be 15usd. though I see where they screwed up. Originally all these items where ultra cheap cents at a time deal but they back tracked on thier destructability which then raised the prices to where they are now.

I say reintroduce destroyabel items. Sell them for ultra cheap like they where before
Rename current items as contracts keep thier prices the same.
Introduce ship paint jobs in the same manner cheap one use, and expensive pernaments.

QFT. It would provide another ISK sink and would finally get rid of that stupid currency that we shall never speak of ever again.

I for one dont want to see anything at all introduced though the NeX store, and every time I do I have less faith in CCP.
