The unofficial CCP TODO list

This unofficial thread contains mainly features what have been in game earlier, but have been removed for some reason and not reintroduced on later date. This list may also contain high priority items which have been promised (but not delivered) earlier. Other random entries are possible if enough reasoning exists.

This list is maintained by author and he may use very selfish and biased selection procedure to pick up more items to the list from the replies in this thread. The goal is to keep the list very clear on item specific level and gather them all to one place. Global entries such as "add WIS as promised" will not make the cut. Reasoning why each item is in list will not be provided - it should be clear enough without the explanation.

If you have some big feature or improvement in mind, it probably is already listed in 7/2011 crowd sourcing results. CCP has already done something to few of the items which are hanging on the better side of most of the lists and they most likely continue to do so. To get these things forward I recommend putting more pressure to CCP/CSM and voting/advertising hard during next crowd sourcing also.

It is common knowledge that certain bigger items which have been hanging on top20 for ages and not being fixed are something that CCP clearly tries to avoid. These include (but are not limited to) Modular POS, bounty system, war dec mechanics* and corp/alliance roles and tools. There is not much we can do about this except trying to keep the discussion up. You may use this thread to link individual crowd sourcing items to your replies and give your support to them, but I won't be promoting them more than I just did. CCP knows how popular those certain items are. They just haven't had the will to put enough resources to make them come true (yet).

That being said... most new feature wishes should go to features and ideas forum or to small things thread unless their goal is to return or fix some functionality. Trying to keep the list short and neutral (this doesn't mean that you couldn't still promote your idea in here).

Feel free to contribute and/or comment. Hate mail is as welcome as the positive one.

Current unofficial task list:

Neocom
- Add narrow task bar to bottom of the screen where you can minimize windows so that their labels remain visible.
-> It is also extremely important that minimized chat labels have user count visible and that minimized labels blink when there is activity.
- Make "chat"-button optional.
- Modify blink so that it activates on event, blinks couple times and leaves icon highlighted. Make it re-blink after each new event.
- Add notification blink to "contract"-button.* (fixed)
*) Lights up some times, but still not at least when you log in and have new contract waiting.
- Add notification blink to "journal"-button. (fixed)
- Move "items" and "ships"-icons away from undock button and left people to customize their order/location.
- Remove random useless junk which is appearing to neocom bar when doing invention, opening cargo containers and so on.
- Add character name to neocom to make it easier to multi-box and quickly tell which client you're using.
- Add date to the clock.
- Add shortcut link and icon for compare tool. (keyb shortcut was added - still waiting for neocom icon.)

Keyboard shortcuts and overview locking
1 -> add option to enable/disable shortcut key applying to "preselected overview item".
-> when enabled lock the overview when mouse is moving over the overview window. Release while after movement stops.
2 -> add option to enable/disable activated shortcut key applying to "clicked overview item".
-> when enabled lock the overview when any shortcut key (which requires target) is held down.
- Make it possible to enable only option 1, 2 or them both at same time.

In space controls
- Add option to enable/disable automatically approach object on open cargo feature (or change it so that ship will not approach target which is target of active tractor beam).

Misc UI
- Fix copy pasting ISK amounts to ISK input box. It stopped working during "," "." decimal divider update. (fixed)
- Stop to random setting resets after patches. Usually related to window positions / tab widths.
- Fix log window - all rows go black very frequently.
- Enable hangar "items"-window's meta column from clients by default.
- Partial stack transfers from hangar which would cap ship cargo bay bug heavily with at least 3 different ways resulting to either overloaded ship, incorrect cargo bay full notification or source stack having 0 items error. This needs to be sorted. (fixed)

Forums
- Fix forum BBcode parse error which percent signs may cause.
- Allow us to post images and use signature images.
- Fix signature editing tool.
- Add support function to assembly hall.
- Fix session time out which frequently eats (usually time consuming and well written) posts. (fixed with autosave)
- Add more customization options to forum layout. Option to disable side borders and background image is minimum demand to increase usability.

Recommended common good improvements

Graphics
- Add optionality or other way to overwrite low resolution nebula images with high resolution images (for high end computers).
-> Downloadable packet perhaps?

Keyboard shortcuts
- Add keyboard shortcut to re-launch drones which were last ordered back to the drone bay.
- Add keyboard shortcut for compare tool. (now present in the game.)
- Add keyboard shortcut to open fuel bay for ships which have one.
- Add keyboard shortcut to open corporate hangar for ships which have one.
- Add keyboard shortcut to "drones: mine repeately"-command or bind "drones: attack"-shortcut to work also with mining drones.
- Add keyboard shortcut to open selected "in space"-containers and wrecks.

UI
- Import/export function for all settings (overview, window positions, keyboard shortcuts, tab widths, neocom, esc menu boxes)
- Improve log window by providing tabs for different event types. Incoming/Outgoing DPS monitor as similar graph than the fps monitor would be awesome bonus to have in one of the tabs.
- Improve (in space) drone control window by showing drone damage for also the drones not in space.

Usability / Accessibility
- Sort market "groups"-tab by items meta level as primary term and add meta labels to item descriptions. Put items without meta level to top.
- Add to item's right click menu: "show variations in compare tool..." (show all meta/tech level variants of the item)*
- Add to item's right click menu: "show similar in compare tool..." (show all items in same group, for example all different medium projectile ammunition)*
*) and/or similar "drag and drop" functionality while holding some modifier key (like shift or alt) down.
- Add "jobs currently assigned"-values next to maximum allowed lab/manufacturing jobs. In example 5/11.
- Make it possible to transfer PI-items between launchpad and customs office while docked to station in same system.
- In "show info" window for modules, under variations, display meta level.
- Make "unlocked" the default behavior for non-secured station containers.
- In "show info"-window for stargates, add the other system's security.

Top priority:

Fix caps / titans, null resource distribution, sov warfare, war decs. Make the next expansion bigger than Apocrypha.

Do this and EvE will be like new. Null will burn. Wars will be fierce. Everyone profits.

Signatures should be used responsibly...

This is a fantastic idea, hope this thread doesn't get locked, I'll post my stuff here, lets list everything the players want! I'll put in my stuff, bold is the most important

. Colour/Logo/Paint customisation for ships see the dawn of war army painter as an example of what I personally expect

. Far more player interaction in the game whether it's mining or combat

. Give far more players access to blueprint copying

. Lock UI option so it won't get dragged around too easily

. Some sort of simple objective notification on the HUD so we don't have to bring up the journal

. Gameplay content that isn't just a load of massive timesinks, missions shouldn't last 1 - 2 hours

. Legalise botting or stomp it out entirely, a decision needs to be made

. Destroy the Nex Store BURN IT ALL!

. End the CSM as it has clearly turned into something that is purely designed to benefit certain alliances and only they understand the system properly enough to utilize it, CCP should be listening to everyone equally not just a select few special interests

. Go back to the drawing board with captain's quarters and don't come back until you have the full thing

. Don't add more tiers/techs in your equipment and ships, focus on making the game more balanced

. More anti-blob options that benefit solo or small gangs

. Make mining barges worthwhile especially Exhumers

. Exploration content is one of the few things working in this game! Make more of it! You have tons of empty space being unused

. If Dust 514 is absolutely not coming to PC then please make an alternative version for EVE players as an expansion, I think ship boarding and station combat would be a fantastic idea

. Generally try to make EVE less of a tedious click and drag fest I'm seeing results but you aren't doing enough

"don't get us wrong, we don't want to screw new players, on the contrary. The core problem here is that tech 1 frigates and cruisers should be appealing enough to be viable platforms in both PvE and PvP."   - CCP Ytterbium

This is the most vital fix that CCP needs to instigate.

http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Exotic_Dancers
As you can see, an exotic dancer has a volume of 1m^3 and a mass of 50kg. That's fine

But look at this!
http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Group_Of_Exotic_Dancers
http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Large_Group_Of_Exotic_Dancers

A large group of exotic dancers has a volume of 400m^3, but a mass of 400,000kg?! That's 1 metric ton per dancer assuming that there are 400 dancers in a group, as would be the case if they were all 1m^3 dancers herded together into a pen, which is how they should be transported

I know we've all had that one fat girl that we had a good time with but didn't want to tell our friends about, but if your dancers are going to weigh 1 metric ton each they should at least occupy more space. I don't know what the average mass density of the human body is but I know that 1 metric ton per cubic meter is too much.

So CCP, sovereignty and super-capitals can wait (weight, heh) you need to fix this glaring and pressing issue.

Sov
-Remove three of the four timers that need to be grinded when taking a system and nerf stucture hp with 66.82%.
-> Stop the sov grind where the hostiles come on the last timer and save the system forcing the attackers to start over.
-If a SBU (doesn't matter how many) are onlined in a system the sov level index thingy stop ticking and all ihub upgrades are disabled.
-> Slight nerf to "defensive SBUs"
- Concider removing "system is vulnerable" notifications making it possible to ninja claim those systems that never are used and owned by that giant blob.

UI
- Redo the entire overview setting window, it's plain out broken and extremely unintuitive.
- Redo the market window, especially the group page for all modules of the same type.
-> Instead of them all thrown together in a pile they should be sorted by meta level and somehow it need to be made clearer that there are 5 different variations of one gun instead of 15 different guns like noobs believe atm. For example by grouping them together better.
+ Mega Beam Laser I
- Mega Afocal Maser I
- Mega Modal Laser I
etc.

Misc.
- Change the backgrounds of the ship preview window so that instead of the generic blue-green nebulae the new ones are there instead and each race has it's own nebulae background
-> Similar to how it looks in the spaceship preview on eveonline.com

Lets not... there is ideas and suggestions forums for those + the little things thread. Try to stick in features which are either broken, need to be updated because of some magic reason or have vanished from the game. If some totally new "item" makes it way to the list, it has to be really neutral thing what would benefit most players on their daily tasks somehow.

Players want plenty of stuff, but they rarely agree about the things they want. This is why I try to keep my "own" wishes away from the list also and focus on the obvious flaws and issues. The fixes and changes have to be clear and if something divides people to 2 opposite camps, it probably doesn't belong here.

Getting old functionality back is the priority. If there is something what can be done to make it even better - that is extra.

I as well +1 bars at the bottom of the window for minimized windows. And if could they blink and few and highlight when a new event happens, that would be great.

Horizontal Neocom.

Ability to remove injected skills with 0 SP wasted on them (with loss of skillbook) for us OCD people that like clean, perfect skillsets.

You shouldn't even joke about such things!

What CCP should do on the other hand is this:
- Make cloths craftable from PI or some sh!t.
- Refund all the aurum spendt.
- Link the nex store to the EVE store.

This way they aurum/plex would work as a digital gitcard. If I could buy PLEXes, convert them to aurum and buy a real life rifter model, the nex store would go from terrible to amazing!

And before you go all "ccp wont give fr33 stoff lol u nob!", remember that the only way PLEXes are injected into the game is by paying real money or klling and looting cockraches.

Advantages:
- Nex would go from something hated to something amazing.
- I am sure the demand for PLEX would go up.
- CCP could sell the things from the EVE store overpriced.
- Easy fix for the "what will happend to nex/aur" problem.
- People would (hopefully) be happy while CCP can keep their extra income.
- Increased use/awareness of the EVE store

Disadvantages:
- Legal issues?
- Shipping issues?

Could you enlighten me about the "widescreen" mode. Tried to find information but didn't quite get to bottom of it. Screenshot and/or extra info about what has been changed when it was "removed" would be nice.

Nebula blindness I understand as item without drop shadow not being very visible against bright background. Can't really combine that to wide screen issues in my mind? How are these related?

Ok thx... after reading this thread I get a feeling that this is more or less issue with some bright nebulas than issue with missing black bars. Reintroducing black bars would certainly fix the problem from areas where the bars are, but leave the other areas as they are. This would clearly be solution for some, but is it the optimal one?

Before adding the item to list I would like to hear some additional suggestions and comments about the issue and nebula blindness. Are those nebulas which are too bright limited to certain few and/or what would be the best methods to fix or get around the issues? Are the black bars necessary if such method can be found? Should some UI items be less transparent or have some static backdrop? Is this problem appearing only with certain colours? If black bars would be reintroduced, what additional measures should be taken to fix other areas of the issue?

Personally I think that simple solution lays in adding some drop shadow or similar to white fonts, which seem to vanish to some nebulas rather well. My opinion however relies pretty heavily to these 2 screen shots you people had posted to that thread. Specially the text under target labels on 2nd example becomes rather unreadable as it is.
Example 1 - Example 2.
