Incredible archery accuracy.
Amazing archery shots

And arrows don't fly "straight," they actually travel in a wave motion along the axis of the flight path.
Arrow flight wave motion
This explains why, and why a wobbling arrow still flies true.

It's amazing to see a guy 'robin-hood' shoot an arrow into the end of another arrow on purpose- amazing stuff.

I got into archery a couple years ago, bought all my stuff at an indoor range and got some free lessons since there was another first tmier who just bought a bunch of stuff and needed lessons too.

We were shooting at 20 yards, and had never done it before.

The other guy was was nervous because he apparently promised his wife that he wouldn't spend more than like $500 on all his archery gear or something, but once in the store couldn't resist buying all the best stuff, so he spent like over a thousand on gear and couldn't really afford arrows after, so he only bought six arrows.

On his first three shots, he managed to accidentally shoot one of his arrows bullseye right into the back of another at 20 yards, fusing the two arrows together. [beginners luck, but we had a good instructor too:)]

The instructor and I were cheering, it was awesome, but the other guy was so depressed. All he could think about was the money he lost by wrecking an arrow and wouldnt' stop complaining about it lol.

I think we convinced him in the end to leave the arrow stuck in the other as a keepsake instead of pulling it out. But since his wife was going to kill him once he got home anyway it probabaly didn't matter. . .

Why shoot an arrow at a target when you can obliterate it with a trebuchet you made in the yard one day? Big smile

Ha ha! Poor guy.... Getting a bullseye at 20 yards isn't easy, much less two in a row with a "robin hood." Archery's a lot harder than it looks. "I was aiming right at it-- why did the arrow fly away to the side?"

Truth be told, this is also why I have been reluctant to buy a bow.

A few years back, a good friend invited me on a spring turkey hunt. Now I'm completely hooked (took my first buck in November)!

Between the shotgun for turkeys, the rifle for deer, cold weather gear, rain gear, scent control, pop up blinds, ammunition, etc.; gets damn expensive fast. Recently bought a muzzle-loader to extend the season into December.

Maybe 2013 will be the year of the bow...

I've always wanted to try bow hunting. but I should probably get into regular hunting before I do that.
