New drone type: Tractor Drone

You'd have to be in locking range of the wreck or container and have the drone control range to send a Tractor Drone out to fetch something.

Perhaps the drones would displace 25m^3 and go the average speed of a heavy drone when flying out to 'drag' something to you, and perhaps the drone would be much slower dragging the item back to you.

IMO, tractor drones should just be an alternative to using a tractor beam, and be much slower. The advantage to them would be that in some cases and certain ship layouts they would have a much longer range.

The drone would bring the item 100m^3 from you and then go out to orbiting range.

If you like this idea (and I do not know if it has been proposed before), please respond.

I don't think there's really a need for this in the game. It sounds more like a gimmicky one-trick-pony than a valuable and useful addition to Eve. Why should this be in the game (reasons like "why not?" and "It would be cool" don't count, since they're not solid reasons)?

normally your why question fits pretty well, but here i think its a little misplaced. its not a question of why, but of whether this would disrupt the ballance and usefullness of the tractor beam we have at the moment. since it requires you to sacrifice a high slot it has a convincing downfall to use. where using a drone for this task essentially is a way around this. the biggest unballance is that this ship would be of greater benefit to drone boats, since they could have their normal arsanel of damage reaking drones, then tracto-drones to help clean up. keeping their highs on warfare tactics.

having said that, i do sort of support this. ive gone back and forth on the issue hypocritically, but lean in the direction of introducing it. I also like the idea of salvo-drones, but would only want to see this if they only worked on "white" or "blue" wrecks". not "yellow", because this would make ninja salvaging easier, which is a form of piracy and should stay more challenging.
