The best bomber for actual bombing is the one every one else is flying. There are no other cross skills than the racial frigate to be able to fly one race's bombers so I;d consider training all of them personally if you want a dedicated bomber character.

The Hound reigns supreme, always has, always will. Bombs are once again an amazing force multiplier in large fleet engagements, and can literally turn the tide of battle with a small number. For someone that has had CovOps V trained for 4 years on several toons, this is an amazing thing (TiDi+Bombs, No CovOps de-cloaking each other, until someone DC's anyway)!

Examples:

27 Man Bomber Wing vs 131 Man Armor Fleet

14 Bombers vs Tornado Gang + Support
The AHAC gang in this battle report killed a whopping 4 ships that jumped in just after the bombing run.

You bomb in waves with a delay between each wave so one groups bombs have exploded before the next is in range to take damage.

Also, please fix POS.

Currently flying a Drake with mainly T2 fitting on it. Looking to get into a bomber and fly it well, any one have a link or suggestion on learning to fly it properly?

bombs fly 30k in the direction your ship is pointing. Start out ~40k from your target and align till you are about 35 away. Decloack, bombs away, GTFO!

No, Bombs of the same damage type have 100% resist to each others damage. If 50 Hounds launch bombs at the same time or slightly off time it wont matter.

Pretty much this, it takes a little coordination at the start, but afterwards, everyone gets the same ammo from the ammotruck, and life is good.

If you launch 100 Shrapnel Bombs, they all land without exploding each other.

If you launch 99 Shrapnel Bomb and 1 Scorch Bomb, There are no bombs and someone just got primary'd.

Works best with 10 Void Bombs to annihilate cap, followed by all the Shrapnel you can dish out.

Bombs do not have 100% resist to their own damage type. It takes about 7 bombs to pop one of the same type.

I've been staring at the Stealth Bombers affectionately for a long time and just realized I'm actually in a pretty good position to start training for one (and flying them with economical viability). What are good Bomb/Torp skills as a bare minimum to make it worthwhile getting into the ship?

This is pretty standard "All In One"

The Lows are personal preference. Depending on Bombing or Torp Roams.

Theres also alot of bickering about the mids, MSE's, MWD's, Afterburners, it all really depends on what makes you feel safe, the basic idea behind a bomber is to warp in at 40, approach to 31km, uncloak, launch bomb, warp out immediately. Bomers can be vollied by an arty-cane even with an MSE but at 37m fitted, who cares.

Interesting. I have done next to no PvP. I should probably get some T1 frigats and go get myself killed a bit before I start trying to fly a bomber.

Hey, thanks. I'll take a look at this later when I can get in-game. Ultimately I want to do bomb-runs -- which I've watched many, many of.

Bombers are honestly one of the most appealing ship classes in the game to me. It also seems that, whenever I'm talking to a bitter-vet and they're recounting some of the fleet battles they've been in, the fleet which deploys bombers tends to come out ahead even if the main force of their feet is inferior.

I really like that small ships still have a place in the grand scheme of things. I think what you guys (bomber pilots) do is awesome work, by the way.

::shameless self-promotion:: We're actively recruiting Bomber Pilots...
