I am announcing today my candidacy for reelection to the Council of Stellar Management.

I came into CSM 6 with several issues I wanted addressed, and while a number of them were dealt with (like ship iteration, lag problem (TDi)) what I learned is that being a strong, broadly focused advocate who can lobby CCP on a personal level is a lot more effective than being a nerd pounding on a table waving a spreadsheet. The Mittani likes to say that we got more work done drinking with devs at bars than we did in the daily meetings. I promise you, I will drink as much liquor as necessary to get CCP developers fixing the important issues in EVE instead of haring off on nonsense like in Incarna or “gold ammo for $”.

When I first went to Iceland, I fought to get CCP focused on fixing what mattered, spaceships, and not messing around with vampire garbage. After Incarna CCP started listening. CSM 6 and I accomplished some of our goals in three months between Incarna's failure and the launch of Crucible, and I want a full term on CSM 7 to finish the job.

What are those important issues? 0.0 space is my biggest concern at this moment. I have been playing EVE since 2004 and have led alliances fighting in most of the Great Wars. Currently I lead two 0.0 alliances, Legion of xXDEATHXx and Shadow of xXDEATHXx. Most of my issues can be divided into two broad categories:

- Living in 0.0

and

-Fixing broken gameplay.

I want to see that pilots get benefits from living in a 0.0 system equal to the effort they put into taking and defending that system. I want to see poses made more interesting and less of a chore, and planetary interaction more engaging and complex. I'd like to see moons rebalanced and mining turned into a viable profession. If 0.0 isn't worth living in then it just becomes a place you leave a couple combat ships and a jump clone while you run missions in empire or NPC space, and that just doesn't make any sense. 0.0 empties out and becomes pointless and people quit because it’s don’t make sense. We saw this happen when CCP nerfed anomalies in between CSM 5 & 6. I want to make 0.0 spaces itself worth fighting over instead of it coming down to moons.

This brings me to the current sovwar system. It’s amazing to me that CCP could come up with a system worse than spamming moons until you get 51% coverage in a system, but they accomplished it. I don't want to bring back poswar but that system had strategy and subtlety that the Dominion mechanics lack. When sovwar mechanics are brought up in CSM 7 I want to be there to argue for a system that doesn't just amount to alarmclocking as many people as you can every night of the week to win a system.

The effort CSM 6 put in has done much to pull EVE back from the precipice, but the big breakthrough came too late to fully exploit. CSM 7 is going to have a big impact on how CCP addresses the future development and improvement of EVE. As a member of CSM 6, I want to be there to ensure that CCP's priorities are where they should be: improving the core game and making our spaceship experience better. As a returning CSM member I will be able to get immediately back to work using contacts and personal relationships already established with the CCP staff to remind them that new features are worthless when they are built atop broken old features. Last year we came to Iceland in a last ditch attempt to save EVE. It seems like we accomplished that goal and his year I'm excited and eager to help make it a better game.

I'm curious to hear more about the changes you'd like to see made to planetary interaction.

I promised D3 my vote, but I feel exactly the same about 0.0/sov. So uhm...

Ventro69: There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

This guy owns

The 'do-nothing' member of the GoonSwarm Economic Warfare Cabal

The edge is REALLY hard to see at times but it DOES exist and in this case we were looking at a situation where a new feature created for all of our customers was being virtually curbstomped by five of them
