I will be the first to tell you that I think Bullmastiff is an excellent pilot, more than that he is an excellent motivator. One of the biggest challenges as a corp. officer has is finding self motivated people. I myself fall into that less than motivated category so I understand the difficulties. Bull took it to another level this week with his awesome motivational skills.

Recently have had purged some players whom weren’t active, whom rarely pvp’d, and players whom were not motivated. It was nothing personal, it was more of a necessary evil. So for every member we lose, we try and give someone a new shot. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. The main problem with new guys is they don't know the commands yet, or they talk too much in a fleet. Bull is really good at teaching and managing expectations.

This is one of those times where we had a large number of newer guys and an excellent leader in Bull. Bull has been organizing logistical fleets over the past two days. More importantly, he has given the guys a standard blueprint on how and what to fit. Shields one day, Armor the next. All and all it has been a success. And the fleets over the past two days have been juggernauts of death. In fact, we are on par with breaking all A4D monthly killing records.

Last night I was scouting and I pulled a couple Thorax's to the gate…my mission. Stay alive while a slow armor gang warped. I managed to get a point on both (Yes I had two fitted). This ended up not being a good idea as I went into web range and trying to scramble the second Thorax and got caught like a noob. Needless to say, the armor reps didn’t take in time and I lost my Vengeance. That one was on me, I was having too much fun.

I was really no good to the fleet in a pod so I took the "warp of shame" back home. What makes matters worse, the guys mauled a AAA fleet after I went to bed. Then my guys killed a Machariel with a couple Ferox’s. And I DIDN’T GET ON THE KILL MAILS! It was basically a failed Sgyma night, but all and all I am so proud of my guys that I don't care.

Shout out goes out to my guys. They rock.

Who the hell are these guys?

About four days ago I get wind from the guys that a lot of DED SPACE members have moved into our little dead end system AAM. This is where we work on our sec status, and some make isk in there. It’s really not a great system, but it is quiet and quant and it works for a small corp. like ours.

So all day there were carriers coming in and out. This had me intrigued, we are small enough as a corp. to be off most peoples radar. Most don’t know we exist, that is how we like it. As we slowly creep up the EVE all time leader board we prefer to be like ghosts. We kill you, you don’t kill us. That is pretty much our corp. mantra.

On Tuesday, I hear from two of A4D’s senior leadership members SG1A and Omegaplex to find out that they had been engaging the alliance, and although outnumbered, were holding their own. Come to find out that not only had they been holding their own, DED SPACE has been taking it in the Brokeback Mountain.

So yesterday, they had amassed a giant gate camp in our system. They had pull bubbles from everywhere, they had ten in local to our three. We had been watching them all day and analyzing best and worst case scenario’s with fighting them. We decided they had too many in their fleet which included a cloaking Machariel and Tempest, with Falcon support.

So we waited, and we decided to go in with 5 with a last minute addition of a Hurricane. The enemy had 3 Drakes and a Hurricane visible on gate, a cloaked Tempest, with the possibility of a Falcon, and Machariel. There were 4 unaccounted for. At the time we didn’t know if they were AFK or not.

With Melli and Bull running Guardians, Suxar and Suxar in Falcons, and Lord Nef in an Abaddon, we decided to engage. The plan was simple, warp the Abaddon to the AAM gate, wait for everyone to aggress, and undock the Guardians and kill them all. With a little luck, as we were undocking, God Forbid logged in and added a much needed tackling Hurricane.

The Abbadon landed, and hit one of their bubbles, slowly they started to red box Lord Nef…and as expected Lord Nef tanked them easily and started to lay the smack down. With all ships now permajammed, Our cane and abbadon took turns mowing down the Drakes. I am not really sure why but the enemy hurricane was hauling a$$ toward my falcon.

I had three jammers on him so he couldn’t really hit me, that is when everyone in our gang said the hurricane is too fast and they couldn’t catch him. So I though, hrmmm, if he is approaching me, I will just head back toward the gang. So I hit my MWD and headed toward Lord Nef and God Forbid. And wouldn’t you know it, the cane flew right into scramble range..

In retrospect, our gang was really rainbows and unicorns with two falcons and two logistics…but we fly to win, so I don’t care.

Great execution from my guys once again. Pay no attention to the Drake on our side. Late coming drakes don’t count. :P

Ghost of Christmas Past

We did the unthinkable last night, we helped a friend shoot a POS, To be honest I hate using real life time to do something so boring. If I were Warren Buffet the time it took to shoot that POS would have cost me $30 million. But since I am a working stiff, that cost me about $80 in real time dollars. So yes, I could be doing something more important. But our buddies from EVE Animal Control asked, so we said we would help.

With that being said, there is nothing worth mentioning yesterday so I may just bring up a nice fight from memory. Ahhh yes. Ping Pong. Anyone ever played ping pong? You hit the little ball back and forth to your friends? Well MrBe and I came up with this little game a couple years back. It is an easy way to get kills with two people and two scouts.

Back in 2008, A4D was not near as active as it is now. In fact the corp. had dwindled down to a handful of members. So since we didn’t have numbers, we were just sneaky. K-QWHE is a system with 5 stations, and 30au across. We would park our scouts two jumps out in both directions to look for killable traffic. Our goal was simple, kill anything with a covert ops cloaking device.

The ships we used were Interdictors with cloaks. So when the target jumped in local, he would see nothing on scan and only two in local for a station system. He would think, there is no danger, and warp to the outbound gate. The interdictor on the far gate would be 100 in front of the gate with the bubble popped, then would slowly move toward the edge of the bubble.

The other interdictor would follow the covert ops into warp and land on top of him decloaking the covert ops. Pop a second bubble on top of the unsuspecting pilot. One day within an hour we killed 4 covert ops and two stealth bombers. 4 of the covert ops ships survived. Easy 40mil isk.

This move is now known in A4D as ping pong.

Curse

The day started with Me and Lord where trying to catch some mission runners in K-QWHE when we saw a Vagabond and Cynabal on scan. It did not take long before the Vagabond was attacking me at station. I was in a Myrmidon and I remember thinking I am going take him if he comes close. He was smart and stayed at range as he should, but warped away and got out of the system with his buddy in the Cynabal.

Since Lord Rapture was in a Zealot, I asked him „Do you have a Rapier that you can switch to?“ Luckily he had one and he changed ships. Although they left system, we figured they would return, so we waited for them. Then it happened! They returned!

They jumped around got into AAM (A dead end system next to K-QWHE). For a while we were a little worried as a Tengu entered system. The Tengu left system and we decided it was worth the chance. So the Idea to take the Cynabal and the vagabond was still on they jumped to K-QWHE from AAM and then warped to RMOC gate.
Although the Vagabond jumped into RMOC our scout said he is coming back to K-QWHE gate. I followed them to the RMOC and they engage me, at that time I knew the Cynabal was waiting on the other side so I waited for the Vagabond to come close. He came under 10km, right on that moment I told Lord Rapture „I am going for him..!

Webbed, scrambled and going down fast, He had ecm drones and I was waiting for them to f**k me up, it took the Cynabal just seconds to jump and he started attacking me aswell. I was taking heavy dps and I dipped into structure, at that time it seemed like all was lost. I overheated my reppers that seemed to buy me some time, I knew I had a chance as got the vagabond popped.

My buddy Lord Rapture was struggling with his decloak button at this time he couldnt get it to disengage. I was going for the Cynabal and managed to get into range. The tables were being turned and the fight was almost over, and he was going down and Lord managed to overcome his uncloak bug, ultimately webbing the **** out of that nano.

Overall it was a damn nice fight, afterwards Lord probed one of their pods up and we got that one as well.

Keep the carnage up.

Let me tell you about my last 24 hours in A4D.

Started last night just before logging off when the call went up for all DPS to the YKE gate. I rushed there in a Cane just in time to see a neutral cane popping and the pod being bubbled. When they asked if anybody wasn't on the pod I said nothing as I couldn't be bothered making them wait whilst I flew 70km for the bubble I'd landed in.

Good choice Melli, as the pod turned out to be full of High Grade Slaves and a load of exotic implants that made it worth 3.99 billion. I went to bed oblivious to this blunder on my part and started the morning getting in on a sweet Vagabond kill as well as some other stuff before DT and domestic chores.

The afternoon saw Bull scrambling a sweet fleet with logistics and damage to chase as drake and cane gang who chose not to engage. This gang then somehow turned into a PoS shoot with Eve Animal Control. Not the most fun I've ever had in a Guardian but Life's Rich Tapestry and all that.

Back to K-Q and camping. Uber -Scout and top rated trouble finder, Cal7, found a gang for us to engage and I proceeded to Leroy a Cane into them and woke up in Hemin. I rushed back to reship and repeated my mistakes with a Harbinger minutes later.

Feeling a little sorry for myself I got into something smaller and joined bloodthirsty Jamie Oliver sound-alike Angela Constantine on the RMOC gate. To paraphrase Field of Dreams -" If you anchor it they will come and this will ease your pain" . People came, people most definitely came...

Gypsy Band faction frigates, a careless Falcon, a solo Megathron (who flies a Mega solo down a pipe without guns on?), various bits and pieces and the night was crowned when a Nullified, cloaky Loki with 3 stabs fitted popped out 1600m from me in the bubble and died an ignominious death. You can check out the details of today and many other days at our killboard http://killboard.appetite4destruction.net/

A4D might not be the biggest or richest corp in Eve. All I will say is, that for this jaded vet, if this corp isn't the most fun in Eve it's probably in the top One.

I've known A4D for years, I think it was sometime in 2005-06 that I recruited a couple of "green" American pilots to my corp GUC. One of which was Sygma, we flew together for a good few months and he proved himself not only a capable pilot but a great guy. We spent time in Syndicate with them and recently see them in Curse, i'm glad the corp is still doing well and having fun each night.

Great corp with a friendly culture, join them if you don't join us first Pirate

For some reason I have less time over a weekend to play than I do during the week. I think it is because my better half tends to schedule weird sh!t for me to do over the weekend. This weekend was no different, I was in charge of Laundry, we met friends at Ikea and prepared a disgusting Vegan dinner. Even my EVE time was filled with boring empire crap. So this post is not about me but rather the Euro A4D.

We have some really great newer members, its not every day that you run across guys that are this good. The guys I want to praise today are our EU contingent: Angelus, Melli, God Forbid, Pleiniers are simply winning at EVE. They guys have more kills by February 12, than I had all last month, they are doing it right and hats off to them.

Top Pod Kill: Angela Constantine scouted this guy was coming from Hemin so he called for backup. As usual, most of us just show up with whatever we are in at the moment, But for a gank you don’t really need a complementing armament of ships, you just bring webs, and DPS. As expected we mauled the Hurricane and got his Pod (High grade slaves). SCORE

http://www.appetite4destruction.net/killboard/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=10820

Top Ship Kill: I was not actually on this one but I did hear this from the SG1A hero tackler. This guy undocked from the station in AAM, warped to the K-QWHE gate, and that is when SG picked up his scent. He followed the guy into K-Q just to see him warp off to a station. After landing at the station, the guy warped to the RMOC/YKE gates…SG took a guess and went to RMOC.

SG called for backup, and although there weren’t a lot of people on, the scramble was on. Rattlesnake tackled in RMOC. Within 15 seconds, the backup was arriving and now the fight was on. Although SG lost his Sabre, he managed to bring back a Diemos. Our buddy SuXaR showed up in a Falcon, Angela in a Sabre, and Dark Aiden in a Vigilant. It took nearly 8 minutes to break the tank but “Rattlesnake Down”

A special thanks goes out to my A4D’s European killers for being awesome. Needless to say, I love this corp.

Valentines day is evil.

I hate that a Hallmark holiday has been engrained into my life. Why the heck is it necessary to purchase flowers in February? Doesn’t Cupid know I have things to shoot in Curse region? Seriously, I haven’t blown up a ship in a week it seems. Thank goodness I can live vicariously through the other A4D members.

This is how my pvp has been going, I log in after work, and find out there is a fight going on at either the RMOC gate or CL gate…so I guess randomly and warped to RMOC. As I jump in, I see that the only thing left is a Vagabond which I was happy to shoot. And as usual, it died.

Ten minutes later, I have to log out to do the RL stuff…you know the stuff that keeps you married and your assets intact. My lovely wife was sick of me within a few hours so I went to the man cave and fired up my computer. Windows update….Anti-virus update…firewall update…Adobe update. I thought finally I can go pvp.

I had someone ask if I could help shoot an Interbus Customs office. I never got to shoot a single ship, I just assigned fighters. Tonight, I am going to get 10 kills if I have to kill myself.
