My last ship loss came when I flew a non-stable ship, and due to my internet cutting out just that once at a unlucky time, I got killed and lost a 2.8 bil ship. In the simple fear of that, I pref running cap stable...

Except you don't need to be cap stable with you guns on, they will deactivate as soon as the target you were firing at explodes Blink

Also too much unnecessary pimp will attract gankers…

If you want to really get the max output for your character, you should use multiple ships:

- Against Blood/Sanchas, tachyon Nightmare. Mine do 1000 dps without drones.

- Against Guristas... I'd go with a Kronos, but more for personnal choice than because it's the best. It's probably not, but I get real bored by missiles.

- Against Angels, Machariel/Vargur.

Kronos is best vs Guristas? Really?

Please train Reading Comprehension above lv 1 before posting again.

I'll quote myself: "...but more for personnal choice than because it's the best. It's probably not, but I get real bored by missiles."

Im currently running a Tengu with 1100 dps omni tank and 700 firepower. I do 4's at a decent pace, but Im looking to increase the pace.
My current plan was a Nightmare, but Ive been told that it doesnt shine in 4's alone, more in nullsec ratting areas.

So my question is now, what ship would excel more then a Tengu in 4's?

Am I reading this right? You're able to get 1100 DPS out of a Tengu? The reason I ask is that I'm new and I was thinking about training into one but all the fits I see look like I can only get to about 500 DPS.

Thanks for your answer, you've given me a lot of direction... NOT

I'm assuming that he's implying that that he can take or repair 1100 DPS (which I see all over the forums as tank or tank ability) and puts out 700 DPS. Again, I'm new and just learning the game and all the terminology.

It is what it is, I never heard omni used with tank before. Once again, it''s a learning curve for me!

Something tells me that you're not quite ready for a tengu, I don't know if it's that you haven't heard of an omnitank before, because you said outright that you were new, or the fact that You can't find a tengu fitting that can do more than 500dps.

maybe you need to think again about that tengu, that said it' not all that hard to find a good tengu fit, heck you can even ask the OP his fit. Just keep in mind there is a world of difference between a tech 2 fit tengu and a faction/deadspace and what not fit tengu so they aren't cheap.

Anyways as said by another, if you want to get this most out of your character, gather together different ships for different missions.

Also, the nightmare is a good choice, it works at it's best when not specifically made to be cap stable but it's your choice. Although I do have to say that if you do run a cap stable nightmare mission run times will be slower.

Go do level 4s in 0.0 and you'll love your tengu even more.

Upgrade, from a tengu?

A better fitted tengu. Anyone who can go back to slow-as-molasses battleships or futzing with drones after flying a perfect tengu is crazy. I've been through almost every form of pve imaginable in my tengu and I don't even bother to swap ships for em/therm missions anymore. It's just way too gratifying to move at 600+m/s, be able to snipe any mission objective at 100+km, and do it all in a ship that can be refitted in seconds for a completely different situation or location.

Fair enough, an Omni tank is when you fit your ship to be equally effective vs all four damage types. The advantage of this is you have no resistance hole making you weak vs any of the 4 different damage types allowing you to face off against a large variety of enemies without altering your fit.
The disadvantage is you can generally fit a stronger tank if you focus it towards the type of damage you know you'll be taking.

Sleepers in wormholes do omni damage thus making an omni tank the most effective kind of tank against them due to diminishing returns on resistance stacking.

I also believe that incursions require you to fit an omni tank as the ai tends to find and exploit resistance holes on any ships in the fleet.

Assuming you have the isk, you could always just keep the Tengu and bust it out whenever a Guristas or Angel mission pops up, and use the Nightmare for everything else.

The difference is, which you have failed to grasp, is that - as this thread is the OP's - it is essentially his perogative whether he listens to your advice or not. You cannot get upset when you walk into someone else's train of thought, give them your opinion, and have it considered and then discarded by them.

perfect skills and lots of implants.

HM limit is around 830 dps with lvl 5 spec and 5% implants.

or you can go for heavy assault missiles for around 900 dps but that's at very short range (compared to HM) and crazy ammo consumption, hence often reloads which affect dps.

As of the OP question, you can get into some kind of battleship with more eft dps but that dps will only apply to BS sized rats. For the rest you will need drones and/or painters. painters are a pain to use because of their abysmal cycle time, and to use drones effectively you'll need train them perfectly which is a long way from a tengu skillset. and even then, honestly drones are annoying to use.

all in all for lvl4 the only upgrade from tengu is another damage dealer (alt?) in mission, which could be a BS for helping with BS sized rats or just another tengu, but BS alt with only gunnery skills is faster to train.

Its called a Machariel, and it does WAY more damage and moves just as fast.

Nothing beats a Nightmare. The raw DPS is incredible. With bloods i can hit 9k damage every 6.7 seconds. there is nothing to match that.

I fly a gank fit Nightmare and eat through everything. The only ships that take a few cycles are Angel assault crusiers.

The biggie that no one really understands is that Multis are usable out to 100k. Machs are great but all the damage is in fall off.

Also you will use Imperial navy ammo which lasts forever and is cheap.

Use Imperial navy Tachs as they have a 25% reduction in cap use over tech II.

I fly a gank fit nightmare and i would not use anything else.

I dont normally troll, but when i do i do it on General Discussion.

When flying a nightmare in lvl4 missions, you really don't need more What?than three slots for tank. I fly with a deadspace invul, a pith xlarge booster and boost amplifier.

I should buy an Ishtar.
