I get this too.

specs;
i7 950
x58 Sabertooth
2x HD 6970
2x 1080p 120hz screens
100% max settings.

regarding the question about certain systems, i dont think so. I can be sat watching the same sun from the same location, one screen strobes the other does not. It is intermittent, but looking away from the sun will stop it.

It's not only with the sun, but any ships appearing on your grid can cause a flash, meaning a fleet portaling, uncloaking after jump or even just warping in onto your grid causes a massive flash storm, worse than photographers blobbing some VIP. For larger fleets is so bad you are forced to look away for a few seconds until the whole fleet appeared.

This is sooo annoying! Evil

Also have this problem. It occurs only in (fixed) window mode for me. I have Radeon HD3870.

It might be solved by playing around with some driver settings but I haven't tried that yet.

Timely fix would be nice cos it is really anoying.

I don't think it's anything to do with PC specs. It's to do with the overview settings. If you have your overview bracket set to show the sun (or any celestial) that icon can block the light from the sun. So because the camera in eve is constantly moving, you get the strobe light effect.
