Can Customs offices be deployed in equatorial orbits?

I had planned to try deploying a customs office over the top of a planet rather than near the equatorial warp-in. But someone jumped the gun and deployed it without getting the bookmark i spent a few hours MWD-ing to get. Does anyone know if it is possible to deploy a CO over a pole?

Thread subject should read, "Can Customs Offices be deployed in OTHER THAN equatorial orbits?"

I believe that there was a set distance from the generic warpin that you're allowed to be ... but so long as you stay within that range, I don't believe there are any limits as to "where" the CO can be.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

I'm pretty sure you can and that the minimum 'range' is from the planet and not the warp in.

When building my CO's i warped to the planet from the opposite side of the planet and dropped a BM mid-warp. When i warped back to the BM I was informed that I was too far away (but it didn't specify from the warpin). I dropped another BM warping through the planet from the BM to the warp-in spot and my 2nd BM was close enough to build the CO.

Is there a good reason to do this?

I mean, it will not "hide" the CO, right? People can just right click the planet and click on "warp to custom office at 0" and still get there.....

Other than aesthetic reasons, I cannot see a point to this...

My intent is 100% aesthetic. If you have to warp to a planet, why not have an awesome view?
