Do you hide your EVE addiction

I don't have an EVE addiction but I have an unhealthy obsession with pissing off gamers in their forums.

Seriously, it's just too easy, the moment you mention a game being broken SOMEONE is going to throw a hissy fit because they're in denial they're wasting their time on the game staring at fittings and spreadsheets all day or getting more exp for that ability they want so badly.

If you want to work, go and get a job, stop trying to ruin games for everyone else.

It is your incompetence about the game you play that pisses people off. Not the fact that the game is broken. Most games are somewhat broken and EVE is not an exception. However, it is not broken the way you see it.

Games in general are quite widely accepted as modern adult hobby up here in Finland.

Funnily the most common comment I get from both gamers and non-gamers regarding EVE is that it's "

Quote:
Oh EVE :o Way too addictive, I wouldn't dare to try, it would suck me in completely".

Can't argue that, tbh.

I talk about it openly. I even try to attract new players to the game but they end up quitting before their trail period is over :(

I'm spilling as much talk left and right as i can as to get myself a cool "eve party crew" going on. But non of the people so far actually "get it". They say its to difficult to start with :(

Should i just print the manual and a guide and give it to them when they come up with that bullshit? "Its to difficult Steve, im not wanting to learn it first" --> ****, here is a manual and a guide.. now stop bitching and go gaming!

I have successfully hidden my various MMO / gaming addictions for years.

I hate it when people talk about games in public, because I straight up do not want to hear about your "totally awesome rogue where you just stealthed and TOTALLLLLY BACKSTABBED SOMEONE" or the "epic headshot from the guy who just ran down the tunnel lol"

I find it extremely difficult to have a decent conversation about games when not playing them, and think it tends to alienate the people in the room who *don't* game.

Hello, hello again.

This thread delivers ...

I am not ashamed of it. And I certainly do not try and hide it. It is a hobby, one that I take very seriously. I spend on average between 50-60 hours a week playing it. The important thing for me is to balance it out with staying in shape. So, 3 times I week I go to the gym for an hour at a time working out my frustrations.

Surround yourself with friends who enjoy the game as much as you and you will never have to hide your love for EVE again.

Its an escape, its a release, its a choice that we all make. Just like smoking ... and we are expected to be ok with it just because someone says its their choice. Well ... EVE is my choice. So stfu and go play wow :P

The hate is strong in this one xD

I don't need to play eve, I can quit any time I want!

Large volumes of highly researched Ammo, drones, charges and ship bpo's. Biggest BPO store in EVE! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=445524#post445524

Admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery.

I try to talk about EVE, but people just look away when I show 'em my beautiful spreadsheets. Sad I need friends with a passion for Spreadsheets in Space.

I don't get addicted to EVE with offline training and isk boosts from CCP in the form of PLEX.

Not getting addicted is one of the reasons I like EVE.

Most of my friends know I play EVE. It's no secret.

If I played WoW, I might be more likely to hide it.

But a lot of my friends (all the guys anyway) play video games. Several of them have ps3's and have actually been coming to me about Dust 514 and if I know any EVE corps that will be getting involved in PI warfare.

If you are ashamed to tell your friends you play EVE, maybe you should get new friends. I'm a video game nerd, have been my whole life. I attribute it to my dad bouncing me on his knee as a baby while he was playing games on his computer Lol

FC, what do?
