Jump Fuel Conservation

This is a question that goes out to anybody that does a lot of capital ship flying, or runs cap fleet ops, or similar;

Is there any real point or purpose to Jump Fuel Conservation - level V? (and if so, what is it?)

Because I'd kinda just glossed over it figuring that it didn't have a fantastic benefit to it that I should care about and that it just saves a few ISK per jump for a rank 8 training time with minimal benefits, until I noticed that there were 333 people who have completely maxed out Navigational skills and that kind of makes me wonder. What have I missed or otherwise overlooked?

Fuel is expensive, and a lot of people don't have anything better to spend their skill points on.

How expensive are we talking here and how much of a (fuel, money) difference does it make? I'm pretty familiar with carriers but generally only in a wormhole rather than jumping around 0.0 so capital jumping and fuel etc used is the only area I'm unsure about.

It's not about cost. Seriously, if you're whining about jump fuel cost, don't fly caps.
It's about being able to hold fuel for more jumps.
Basically the less fuel you use, the further you can jump before refueling.

It's nice to be able to get a skill group to all V's. Nav skills are one of the groups where that is an attainable goal. I think that is part of the 333 you see.

Some people want perfect cap skills, or perfect Jump freighter skills.

And yes: Some people actually do it for the isk saved.

(Oxy Isotopes in the past year have been awful spendy) I personally know a JF pilot who was spending 60 mil a night in fuel, tending POS's, or doing Alliance runs to Hi-Sec.

Has to be alot more than 333 characters. I guess that's just eveboard!! I've got 2 toons with them all maxed. - Mainly so I can say "I've got max nav skills"

Hmmmm, I think I'll consider training it though I wasn't terribly bothered about maxing out the skillgroup, already planned to do that shortly for Electronics and Engineering.

We'll see how I feel once I reach Jump drive calibration - V on my plan but now I'm actually giving it decent consideration instead of just disregarding it.

Thank you to everyone for the info.

I haven't seen anyone mention it, so I'll just add a little note: Most cap ship alliance/corp routes are planned for JFC IV, when using regular caps. When flying caps there's generally quiet a few skills which you will need more, then again having room for more stront in your dread or more whatever in your carrier can be nice. However, if you are a JF pilot there is alot of isk to be saved by lowering your fuel costs, while it allows for you to seed 0.0 markets and generally move goods at a lower cost.

let's speak about Moros.
It has fuel bay for like 20k of Isotopes. This is like 3-4 full-range jumps. And i have had real situations where i needed to get back to home (blue) system instead of continuing fleet job. Because of fuel.
Not sure lvl 5 could help much but sometime you need ANYTHING you can use.

Personally i don;t want to train it to 5 soon. Hovewer my Nyx alt is getting calibration 5 and then -> conservation 5.

Does JFC affect the amount of fuel used by Black Ops ships too?

edit - to clarify I mean the amount of fuel needed to bridge other ships, not the core blops ship.
