pve "show likely position"

While doing some pve it told me three ships took off and my computer had guessed their likely position. I don't see it in bookmarks or under scanner though, how do I see where this pve continues at? (there are no accel gates or the like nearby)

Due to lack of information, i guess you did some exploration and got this massage in a plex. If it's so look in your yournal under "exploration" or what it is called exactly. There is the next point to go for you.

Sounds like you've got an Escalating Encounter, otherwise known as Expedition.

Expect nothing in terms of rewards, be happy when you get something.

Good chances it will dead end (the chain will just stop, no more places to go for it) and/or you'll get nothing in drops (meaning even if it does fully escalate, you could still go home empty handed). Don't come back here complaining that you got nothing like others who are unable to grasp basic concepts of rarity.

Actually you're the only one that brought anything negative to this conversation. I think the fact my post made it obvious I didn't even know I was in an escalation shows I was playing for -fun- (WHAT IS THIS WORD) and not expecting anything, since again, I didn't even know I was in one. That said I've gotten two so far, and a rare drop at the end of both, maybe you were doing something wrong to get so jaded.

Yeah, after you've completed a few more exploration sites and expeditions, you'll find that Emperor Salazar's condescending statement does have merit.

Anyway, gratz on a good start in exploration.

Pay no attention to Salazar, he's just our resident cynic. :P

Actually, do pay attention to him. He gives good advice -- he just gets grumpy with the new kids on his lawn.

You young 'uns have it so easy, you have no idea how hard things were back in our day, we never had no fancy DSP charts telling us how to find stuff...

What's a dsp chart, this 'youngin' has no idea what you're talking about. I used scanning probes, found a place, went to it, fought.... no charts involved. You did it differently then scan, warp, fight? How was that?

Meet the Min/Maxer...
Common form of eve player who dislikes playing games so studies charts that give away all the goodies of what you find and have to do to find the relevant paths through a process. They then just do that and ignore what else exists around them.

Youll meet a lot of them, usually ripping past you in the first stage of complex, triggering everything at once then popping the rat that opens the second stage and then theyll disappear through it.

Being Eve its possible to poop on their party in some complexes, as they have just done on yours - but you gotta gimp the ship to a at least pack a warp scram - 2 point will do nicely seeing as you both have to wait the same area for your prizes ;-) Pop the party piece yourself and await them to turn red.

Your really lucky to catch 2 good mods on consecutive expeditions. Salazars comment isnt nearly as nasty as you took it, its simply the truth. Most expeditions fall flat with no prize for me about 9 out of 10 times - in fact ive scored 1 worthy A-Type mod and 2 good Frigate BPC's in high sec exploring and done it a lot when im online, now its almost all i do as it still feels exciting.

Dont ignore wormholes btw... go have a shifty where they go (never forget to bookmark should you jump through one). With some thought youll find whole new worlds that really would be innaccesible otherwise.... even in known areas. You can do everything everywhere yeh Lol
