Hi I started playing eve back in 2009, and have played on and off til now. I have never been given advice on what skills I should train, not just as a minmatar/caldari pvp pilot but as a pilot in general. Id really appreciate any advice you may have for me.

I will give you a general advice without going too much into detail.

- Since you have only under 8 mil SP I would focus on one race until you have good skills in it. You can't go wrong with Minmatar.
- Think about what you want to do. If you have no clear goal yet or don't want to specialize in something it's always a good thing to get core skills done, like navigation, fitting skills, shield/armor tanking or gunnery/missile support skills. Everybody should have at least T2 light drones as well.
- A rule of thumb: train all skills you use in a ship to IV. Only train them to V if you spend a long time in that ship or if they are prerequisites for following skills. Training skills to IV first doesn't take long and you benefit more from a well rounded skillset at IV instead of few skills to V.
- Have a look at certificates, they are good for a general direction, Just don't go for elite certificates as most have ridiculous requirements.

So basically get a ship, fit in in EFT, look via right- click what skills that ship needs and work on them until you have them all at IV and improve later to V what you want.
