Why is it so hard for people to understand why Dust 514 is only on the PS3?!

The question has a really short and simple answer, actually :

Ignorance is strength.

Or, in a slighty longer version :

They don't see further than to the tip of their own nose.

Or, more detailed :

We are living in a world of Sociopaths who don't care about anybody else except themselves
and therefore automagically dismiss any kind of information that would show them that there
are good reasons why they are being (in their POV:) put onto the lower end of the ladder.
Thus: every information you provide to show them WHY ... does not change anything.

Every asteriod mined, every ship built, every corporation created, every alliance formed.

We built this universe and made it what it is, and shall continue to do so until the umbillical cord is disconnected from our pods.

We have tolerated a great deal from CCP over time, more so than most gamers would on other platforms with other companies.

Our reward for years of defending them; Of convincing gamers to play in the sand; Of helping new players out; Of creating tutorials; Of creating guides, maps and spreadsheets; Of blogging, social networking and tweets; Of slogging back and forth to refuel PoS's which were a design mechanic flaw; Of allowing bad apples to keep their job; Of not quitting when lag wrecked an empire?

They create a game, using funds gained from this universe and proceed to release it on a different platform.

Doesn't matter what that platform is; it could have been a Collecovision, but it is not the platform which this universe was built on.

If they had created a completely independant game, specifically for the PS3, no one would have batted an eyelid.

It's not a bold call, but I'm fuckin' calling it: Dust players will get owned so hard, none will return, as the capsuleers of new eden will redefine the meaning of the word 'Grief'.

Bravo on the first part eve platers do shape its univers. but I'm not to sure about the second part. some FPS gamers, especialy PS3 gamers, will hold onto a game untill thay have squezed all the goodies out of it, and if Dust is anything like their saying it is its going to have an infinet amount of goodies.

Witch meens Dust gamers will be hanging on rather tightly to it for a realy long time, and if they do get owned their are players out their who will spend days if not weeks trying to get around the problem owning them.

Why should it matter what platform it's released on? It's expanding the sandbox is it not? In reality, EVE and DUST will be on the same level, existing within the same universe as each other. What I can really see is a group of people too stubborn to accept that CCP has made it's decision to expand the sandbox in a way that they don't want them to. It's not like you can't play DUST 514 just because you play EVE. I know plenty of people that will be playing them both, possibly dealing death from orbit and the barrel of an assault rifle at the same time.

CCP isn't abandoning EVE either. Heck with the two games being interconnected, it means that CCP has even more incentive to make sure that EVE gets better. I would be more worried if CCP was making a completely new game as it might provide the potential for them to decide to put EVE to bed. But with two games riding off the same server cluster? I think not.

So there's a new kid in the sandbox and you just want to pee on his sand to make him go away? What ever happened to encouraging more people to come play in the sandbox, to build more castles and then tear them down again? To building something together greater than what any one person could ever dream of, greater than the sum of it's parts? Because that's what CCP is doing. They're daring to be bold. And if I'm not mistaken that's exactly what the intro video for EVE tells you to be.

You know what I'm calling? I'm calling EVE players lining up to shoot at the guys on the ground, laughing all the while thinking of the tears they will cause, and then getting the shock of their life when they find themselves floating in their pods or waking up in a station because the planets saw fit to rage against the heavens and strike back with a fury that made the stars themselves seem feeble in comparison. And you know what? I'll be smiling the whole time as I see conflict everywhere between the two, in an eternal struggle between those that roam the heavens and those that walk the earth.

This is CCP's game. It's CCP's money. This sandbox? You're just playing in it. So buckle up. Because if you want to stay in the sandbox, you're going to get dragged into this kicking and screaming with the rest of us.

EDIT: I just saw the last two posts, but I'll be damned if I didn't post what I wrote.

ok this argument is going to go around for the next few months without end.

that aside anyone know if Dust troops will get anything like a rookie ship if they die to manny times and run out of ISK to pay for new equipment?

. Exclusive games don't last very long even if they have a lot of hype

. EVE has always been a PC game, they'll probably make more money and gain a better following if they release it as a free expansion, this shows they're being greedy douchebags, EVE players would get a better deal since they could play an FPS in the game universe if they get bored of EVE Online and still make an impact in the game

. They've said they wanted to do micro-transactions with Dust 514 another case of them wanting to get rich fast, can you imagine having to pay £5 for ammo to have a chance of winning and get nothing in return?

. Consoles are largely overpriced pieces of plastic and computer components in them with a controller attached, I guarantee you that in a couple of years the Xbox 360 and PS3 will be totally outdated and they'll be building up hype for the next ones

. EVE Online players are almost certainly going to retaliate to a PS3 exclusive of Dust 514 by orbital bombing the crap out of all PS3 players until they leave, PS3 players will rage quit and Dust 514 will be a failure, this is the kind of thing EVE players do when they don't get their way

I'm sure that CCP will find some kind of grindfest for Dust 514 players to do in order to play the game again don't worry

"don't get us wrong, we don't want to screw new players, on the contrary. The core problem here is that tech 1 frigates and cruisers should be appealing enough to be viable platforms in both PvE and PvP."   - CCP Ytterbium

HAHA yeah that'll happen up untile the point Dust players Join Eve with the sole idea of defending their planet until they can build anti space batteries.

Then when your deadnots roll in to whipe out the porly equiped Dust fleet they get shot out the sky like ducks.

EDIT: Now that i think about it thats why alot of Eve players are so made about Dust. the potential for hords of Zerglike Dust fleets roming around Eve is realy way to high.

Also i would like to point out to all of the eve players going on powertrips, you are not allowed to orbital strike unless something is marked by the DUST'ies, so no random orbital striking for you

(also i have a feeling there is going to be a LOT of dread kills after DUST release....)

srsly?

So...all one needs to do is have someone on the planet as cannon fodder?

Sounds pretty easy to me.

Like to know how they expect to shoot a dread down with someone on the inside setting them up, just like in BF2 when you'd have a commander airstriking their own squad for lols.

Not like they can jump on another server is it? There is only 1 server, remember?
