Then you were doing something wrong. BS rats in a Tengu is an exercise in swift mass murder — it's the frigates (and some quicker cruisers) that take time since you have to switch to more precise missiles.

20 minutes is not particularly unreal.

Maybe for a raven, but If I'm running a lvl 4 mission where I absolutely have to kill frigs/cruisers, I just shoot them with my lazors when they're heading towards me. It usually ends with a pop in one hit. When they're coming in from 70-80 km, I can usually cycle through enough of them so that they don't make much of a difference...

However, it is over tanked and takes awhile but i only do this when i am high as fk but, boy is it fun. I have more space likes than you.

As has already been said, faction Epic Arc missions are significantly tougher to tank solo than L4's. My nearly perfect Dominix pilot had trouble with a double LAR setup in Syndication, for example, when all those elite battleships rolled up close (might have been easier using faction/complex LARs, but eh, I keep forgetting to buy them on account of not running missions often anymore). I recently tried a "sniper Domi" for lolz, and it worked pretty well actually. Long-range sentry Domi and a few bookmarks in mission pockets, at warpable distances, i don't remember if there were any pockets where you couldn't warp on grid, don't think so... Sniper Domi = long range sentries, omnidirectional tracking links, drone link augmentors for moar sentry snipe control range and sebos for targeting range. This setup can start popping stuff at >150km, at which point the NPCs aren't even doing damage to you. By the time they get up close enough to start hurting, you will have already popped some of those elite battleships, and probably all the other small stuff for fun while BS's were out of range. Then, as they get up close, I warped to one of my bookmarks on grid and repeated the procedure. It's not the most efficient setup but it worked and was even kind of fun in a way since it was different than the usual Dominix tactics as one would use in, say, L4's. So, if you have good drone skills and have trouble with the tank at close range, this is an option if you don't have logistics or someone else to help out.

Don't be afraid of L4's! They are NOT the same as Epic Arc missions, seriously. Go do some and you'll see. Three reppers on a L4 Domi is completely unnecessary, even two is one too many (unless you want a really lazy mode setup, or it's a mission with lots of incoming damage, there's a few of those). The only really godawful DPS L4 in my experience is Smash The Supplier, an anti-Amarr mission. Moving at top (lol) speed, with relevant resists of about 90%, I had to warp out twice at least the one time I ran this mission to help someone who couldn't even begin tanking it.
