It's nice and all but why don't you go capture your own footage instead of reusing ccp's?

I refuse to watch a pastiche of CCP's trailers.

Only one player ever managed to do them justice in recent times, as it was exceptional composition [If I can find the link].

I would be extremely interested in watching something you Fraps'd and put together though...

You could drop onto the test server for a few hours and Fraps all manner of pew pew and beauty shots to your hearts content, edit the hell out of it and probably get something together of serious interest.

But not this...

That's fine, I posted it here for the people who do want to watch it.. I'm just casually playing around with Vegas to relearn the basics. I'm not looking for something of "serious interest".

With all of that text you wasted you could have said something constructive about the editing in my video rather than wasting time explaining how you refuse to watch it. Just saying "only one guy is good at these" and give no reasoning as to why mine isn't even worth watching helps me in no way.

Constructive comments would be nice, if you don't have anything to say that is actually useful, then kindly don't post.

Deepest apologies.

My Jura Impressa broke this morning and I think you were one of many that got the brunt of the rage lynchpin that ensued.

Not making excuses, but illustrating one of the two possible reasons I replied the way I did.

Secondly, I really feel perhaps a little too strongly about these mock-ups than I should and you are one of many people which have done these over time, and one of many I have subsequently harshly criticized.

You will find I am one of the biggest supporters of original content, and have spent countless hours aiding and assisting people (where possible) in their goal to achieve a specific vision. That help has been technical, artistic and simplistic encouragement.

I stress original content, however, as it is this which the forums need more than anything; and it is that which needs the most encouragement as I hope you would agree.

Your reasons for using CCP footage are your own, and not mine to question - but I strongly recommend you move out of the casual Vegas experimentation and delve into creating something from scratch - the satisfaction will be higher, and the respect will be also. The other responses here are indicative of that.

Perhaps if you explained why you put this together and made specific points as to what it is precisely you wished to have criticism on, the general response might have been different.

If it was to experiment with a pretense of future editing, I hope I have not discouraged you in any way.

Apologies again.

Thanks for the apology and It has not discouraged me in any way.

One of the reasons I have not used original footage is because of the time I don't have to dedicate to a project like this.

Another is that I have no idea how to use the advanced camera options in-game to their fullest extent. Do you or anyone else for that matter have any tips/videos on how to use the adv. camera menu to film exactly what you want to, and move smoothly? I understand the concept of the different options, it is just difficult to achieve what I'd want to record into a video with the rather limited experience I have using it.

And yes, this video was just to get back to grips with the editing software as it was a long time since I last used it. Perhaps I should have clarified that :P

Thank you for accepting my apology and, I am pleased it has not.

The advanced camera controls are fiddly, for sure, but I doubt I could offer any new information to what you already understand yourself.

I did a chunk of tutorials waaaay back in '08, and the original post/thread is here I did have a eve-o wiki, but it got removed, probably because of some harse criticisim I dealt someone once. What goes around comes around eh? Big smile

The way I think about it is that the parent and target are two points in 3D space with the camera position being the thing that you are moving.

Experimenting with the distance between the target position and the camera position is what gives you the smoothness.

The greater the distance between the camera position and the target position, relative to the transversal velocity of the parent and target, is the factor which determines the tracking speed of the camera.

If the camera position is between the parent and the target, you will get a wrap-around effect at the apex of the radius relative to the parent, causing the camera to 'snap' 160-180 degrees until the distances increase again. Typically this will happen if your parent is orbiting a target, once every 360 degree rotation.

Very well edited and a good selection of scenes. could use some EVE-style mind-bending text, but I have to say that more original content is to be created. people are getting tired of seeing official trailers re-used to ****.

Good luck on your next video Blink

Thanks :D I don't disagree with anything you said there. I'd love to be able to make some REALLY nice text effects with Adobe AE, however it seems a little bit above my skill level, and it's one of those programs where you have to lock yourself in a bunker for 3 years to fully master it xD

If anyone has any easy to understand tutorials that teach AE from scratch, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks
