How to live a life of pvp without being broke? (empire problems)

I've always considered EVE to really be a two-account minimum game, for the most part. Granted, I only have one account right now myself, but I also have a little under 90mil sp, a plethora of experience, and I don't really play that much anymore. I spent most of my days as a newb with a lot of corpmates in nullsec, gradually adding accounts and alts as I became more independant.

Once you factor in the sheer headache and quality of life issues you will face with just one active account, you will realize the second one is worth it. I suggest training it to haul, trade, and all the other non-combat things you will not want to do on your main.

You may look at it now like a big investment, but considering the alternative is probably buying PLEX to sell on the market at some kind of regular interval, you will end up with money saved in the longterm. Ultimately, when you have a few years of SP under your characters' belts, you can think about consolidating back to a single account if your playstle allows for it.

CCP should totally put that on their new introduction website.

No... really.

First, let me point you at the Making ISK guide.

Second, there is no reason you have to sell things through a hisec market hub. You can list things for sale in your Militia stations in low sec, and letting people with an eye for a bargain come to pick your stuff up. You could even make friends in the militia who turn out to be avid traders themselves. Get one of them to haul your produce to market as a courier contract or as a favour.

Certainly, you may not make as much profit as the people with trade/hauling alts, but you can also eliminate the risk of hauling valuable cargo yourself.

You don't need second or third characters on the one account. You don't need a second account. Sure, those things might help in some regard, but it is possible to make ISK using the same character that you PvP with.

I had a very long and well-written post here but it got erased. At any case, I'm a 90mil sp pvp character with no alts and have been a pirate for a long time. Since I don't want to re-type everything I'm going to just put the short version

#1 solution - Find a corp/friends that you can depend on to haul your loot for you - this is what I relied upon 90% of the time.
#2 solution - FW level 4 missions - Very Very lucrative, with some stealth bombers and a speed tank. Still has the problem of going into empire to cash out the LP
- Empire solution - Flying in frigates in empire is not dangerous as long as you are quick to warp and quick to jump. Concord can't touch you unless (very rarely) you undock in a 1.0 station. Anything larger is very dangerous. You can cash out LP and sell stuff in hubs by moving it in frigates
#3 solution - If you can't find a corp or insist on playing solo, you MUST get an alt. There's really no way around it. Getting an alt makes up for your lack of teammates.
#4 solution - If you cannot do any of the above, you can always sell stuff in low sec or to militia members or to trade contacts so they can make a profit. It's less than optimal, but hey.
#5 "solution" - Eventually you will get to the point in your pvp experience where you simply don't lose ships any more. I've gotten to this point and have gotten a lot of isk through "farming" t2 loot from enemies. It's not something you can get immediately, but above all other options this way is the best because you don't really even need to buy anything any more. You just get this "passive" income from doing what you like simply because you're good at it.

At any rate, I depended upon friends to move my stuff a lot, with me flying in empire occasionally when I didn't want to wait. I also made a ton by doing level 4 FW missions. Also, being -10 is a HUGE pain when you don't have alts. It's fun in the short term, but in the long term it gets old real quick.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Just move to nullsec. Problem solved. Oh and if you are worried about making isk, train salvaging to lvl 3-4 and go scavenge wrecks. I did this when I started as my only income source and I could afford to fly frigs on my own dime indefinitely. Now that i'm in a corp which pays for most of my losses, I earn while I pvp, and unlike the above poster I am not elite or even good at it. Bear

There is really no other way than to have an alt. Unless you like headaches or paying RL money to get ISK.

When I did Minmatar faction war I would have two bases. One in Dal or Kourm and one in Gulfonodi. I would run lvl 4 missions in Gulfonodi and PVP in low-sec. One account, no alts. I would make sure to keep my sec status above -3. This kept me in BC and down just fine.
