Heyyyyyyyy.

I just thought of something you might want to add to the musings.

The Japanese name for Canopus (where the original Eve wormhole was found in the milky way) is... Old Man Star.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canopus#Other_names

Food for schizoid thought.

You frighten me sometimes. You're like I am with that kind of stuff.

Love this stuff, as an aside: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukhavati - Google Soekheviti.

In this instance the word Sukhavati represents: the western Pure Land of the Buddha Amitābha in Mahāyāna Buddhism. Sukhāvatī translates to "Land of Bliss."

The links between Buddhism and Asia are stereotyped, however - in the EVE Timeline the current locked listing is:

AD 3805

The Conformists, a group within the Unified Catholic Church, settles on Soekheviti, a planet within the Sol system.

AD 3841

The Conformists take control of Soekheviti

AD 3897

The Conformists lose power and are exiled from Soekheviti

If the Conformists are a sub-sect within the Unified Catholic Church but lose power and are exiled it stands to reason that political turmoil affected their occupation of the planet and caused them to migrate. This might have been a long lasting conflict of opinion.

From the background information we see being added to the eve wiki, it looks like alot of colonists in New Eden were religious groups seeking a new start.. Or, conversely, we humans have a history of throwing our undesirables at the unknown.

Last night, someone in my alliance forwarded this, that he pulled from the database.. Food for thought..

Data Subverter I

A specialized computer and communications suite designed to assist attempts to subvert the control routines of orbital structures.

"You fail to understand. This is our time now. Since prehistory, we have fought each other, first with clubs, then with guns and with beams of energy. Now we shall fight with our minds amidst the beautiful spinning streams of data interconnecting all life on all worlds.

Resist, if you like. Your efforts will only hasten the time when we wrest control from you and all the rest of the old order."

- Note left in Federal Intelligence Office mainframe by anonymous hacker

Old Order? Prehistory? Spinning streams of data? A hint as to who the Sleepers really were?

On the above..

"Sir Charles Eliot suggested that the Buddhist paradise Sukhavati may be linked to the Avestan land of Saukavastan."

Avesta is the sacred text of the Zoroastrians... More evidence of religious importance in the history of New Eden..

It's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then, and it's a poor sort of memory that only works backward.

Hm, I think I saw that Data Subverter item get introduzed with Crucible. Could be a mission related item among other things.

It's a hacker, using "spinning streams of data" to fight a war. Cyberwarfare ftw.

From the symbolism, I'd guess it was a "Caldarian". Pirate Also, probably a nod to events of last year. Blink Though, there's no proof it's not Sleepers. Shocked

For now Arek'Jaalan takes up what little time I have to give to EVE. However, when I get my hands on a copy I'll be making notes on the second read through and hope to be able to drop some of that information in. There are also a number of notes from the Evelopedia which could also be added and the acknowledgements list is missing a contributor.

My most recent work is Project Revelation

This is my de-facto reference document when talking at conventions/panels/etc about just how crazy awesome our player base is and the immense creativity abundant for us to tap into (for live events, and EVE as a whole).

I'll be interested to read the latest version, particularly since the theory section has been dropped.

Why don't you guys say that kind of thing about our ideas?

:( Now I'm even more jealous.

This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
