Implement new ship control mechanics

Basically I really liked the idea they had for Freelancer ( Space simulation game ) , where you controlled your ship with the W A S D keys on the keyboard , aimed the Crosshair which was in the middle of the screen by moving the mouse around , clicked the left mouse button to fire the selected weapon(s) , clicked and held in the right mouse button to change the direction of the ship.
This sort of control mechanic will make Eve online combat a little more involving , be able to dodge incoming fire etc. But for this to work , they would need to change the whole approach Eve online makes to speed in game , and would probably need to make adjustments on how ships receive speed boosts from afterburners and microwarpdrives. I really like Eve online for the strategic configuration of modules on ships and the player skill training element. But I would really like to be able to take on a stronger player , in terms of the amount of skill training and the expensive ship setup he or she has. To be able to win a pvp situation becauseIi was better able to exploit the ship weaknesses of the opposing ship and was perhaps concentrating a little bit harder during that particular PvP encounter. A really good pilot can take on many more ships by him or herself because that pilot has got way more experience in combat or is just a gifted pilot in terms of reflexes , analysing the situation etc. And yes I would like for ships to have weaknesses , regardless of the amount of effective HP that particular ship has , be able to take out mounted weapons , engines etc. This control system should have a toggle on/off mode , to allow players to choose between automated , or my suggestion manual mode.

Oh no not this again

Lag
No in-universe reason to make ships unable to fire weapons anywhere but forwards
Why would you fly a battleship like a fighter?

This isn't a space simulation game, and it will never be.

Dodging incoming fire? From laser beams, plasma and bullets? Roflmao! You can't be serious?

Use the search function when posting "new" ideas.

Thanks the response.

First , every ships handles differently , of course battleships will not handle like fighters , the aiming system i mentioned will make it more interesting.

And second , if lag was a excuse for everything , this game will never improve. It will just be limited to a point because people keep saying lag will not make that particular feature possible.

If CCP want to make virtual space station walking possible lag is also gonna be a problem , but technology advances , servers get stronger etc.

USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION. Every question you are going to ask, every point you are going to make, has been made and answered before. Explaining things to people four times a month gets boring, so please save us the time and look up one of the other hundreds of identical threads.

Thank you.

Oh goody, the semi-weekly "Derp, eve should have laggy fight controls and be a completely different game that will lose 99% of its subs and needs to be rebuilt from the ground up, derp" thread.

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Sometimes when I post, I look at my sig and wish that I'd follow my own god damned advice.

You can't run twitch based controls with one server ping per second, which is what we currently get. Increasing that would drastically increase lag, as would suddenly changing from 1000 guys sitting on their relative anchors to 1000 guys free flying around. Let's not change the entire way eve works, make the entire game a hell of a lot laggier and harder if not downright impossible to play just to suit the whims of a few flight sim players.

If you want free flight, go play STO. It's a worse game than eve.
