Make T2 better than meta 1-4

I find it a bit odd how some T2 modules are equal or even worse than meta 1-4 version. Take 1600mm Reinforced Steel Plates II as an example. I has the same armor bonus as the meta 4 but uses more cpu, powergrid, and adds more mass. The only thing speaking for the T2 version is that it's 100k ISK cheaper. As with ships the T2 version should have some edge while requiring higher skills.

there are people here that would argue that the cheaper price of some items is what defines them as being a better item.

Take target painters for example.
The meta 4 version is better than the t2, but it also can cost somewhere in the 4 mil range.
The t2 version isn't as good, but costs maybe 1 mil.

I however do not agree with these people because the meta level, efficiency, or whatever else do not determine the price of these items.
This is solely on the players to do so...So the fact that t2's in some cases are worse than meta4's has nothing to do with pricing at all. The only place where pricing comes in is that less meta 4's are being retrieved from missions/ratting/whatever than there are t2's being produced.

Basically what I'm saying is that I agree with you for the items you're specifying and those that say it's a price thing are idiots.

However, in these cases, if there is a change, the t2's should be made better than the meta 4's, and not the meta fours made worse than the t2's... in other words, buff the t2.....don't nerf the meta 4

One idea would be to change the meta levels on some modules. If I'm not wrong meta 1 has a higher chance to drop than meta 4. So in those cases where there's only one or two loot modules the existing modules could be changed to metal 3 and 4 and therefor drop less. Which would make them cost more and maybe the T2 version would be a cheaper alternative.

What about the meta 11 remote shield reppers that are worse than their T2 equivalent? The Y-T MWD compared to the T2 MWD is also kind of weird tradeoff, where the meta 3 mod uses less overall cap, while the total cap pool is higher with the T2 version.

on this issue some of the faction and T2 balance should be looked at too, currently faction guns are pretty much useless compared to T2 and for some reason they are about 20 times more expensive. same with the T2 ammo vs faction ammo.

Navy antimatter does the same damage than Javelin but does not have that Huge optimal penalty.

T2 Fury/Rage ammo is 100% useless compared to navy ammo both DPS and functional wise. not to mention fitting it most of time means you become like 30% easier to hit.

Nah. T2 has its set of benefits; Meta 1-4 has its own.

tech 2 strip miners are awful considering they're supposed to be upgrades.

They are better because they can use crystals. but if your using them without crystals they are worse. its kinda like a focusing tool. To make it beable to be focused they had to lower the lasers power.

And anyways what would be the point of T1 strips if T2s where better in every way. All you would do it make T2 Strips Ridiculously priced.

AS for the rest of the thread. I think it should stay as it is. It works and is not broken.

I think they should have some advantage. It could be such a small thing as they're cheaper and easier to come by , or take less damage from overheating than the meta 4. But there's a lot of modules that don't have this. They have the same bonuses as the meta 4, but uses more powergrid, more cpu, takes more energy to activate, and on top of that they costs more.

prices are set by the players

its up to the players to make those T2 ones cheaper because they're crappier

Go on. I'd love to hear why T2 plates are better than rolled tungsten plates

Well... yes and no. Meta 4 drops less than lower metas so as an example 'Scout' projectiles are fairly uncommon. But experimental 10MN mwd is a quite common drop so the price on those will go down.
