So there are tons of youtube vids relating to Eve Online, but it seems most of them are set to horrible, boring, music. Where are all the commentators? Seems like the perfect game to talk over while playing, and please don't tell me to go do it myself, I've tried doing Lets Plays and my internet just refuses to upload with anything remotely resembling acceptable speeds.

Eve does not lend itself to any real commentary, as most pvp is pretty spontaneous and one-sided. The alliance tournaments are an exception.

Some people do good commentary, you just have to find the right people.

Commentry works best when you can see both sides, eve videos are always one guys perspective on one side of a fight.

Now if you were able to get a fraps from the other guy(s) so you can pic in pic or swap the view then you have somthing worthy of a proper commentry.

You could do it yourserlf but then its you commentating on your own flying - i think thats why its rare.

Youtube is filled with gameplay videos of people talking over the game and breathing heavily into the mic along with putting music on that even I find crappy when I don't really care much about what music I listen to.

what we need are gameplay videos that just show the damn gameplay, don't even get me started on the troll videos where they post fake fan made trailers and then label them as official to get more views.

So, like, dawg I got on my main, I got on my scout (falcon) alt, I got on my probing (ganglink) alt and then I solo'd this dude.

Then I solo'd this dude

Finally, i solo'd these two dudes.

I personally think Eve just doesn't lend itself to commentary as well as other games such as Starcraft 2 due to the fact you only usually have one point of view, the fights are spontaneous and its very very rarely balanced.

While you could comment on what your doing, what your thought process was, what you could do better, its more of a training tool for newer pilots than a commentary of a battle (see I believe Kil2's youtube videos for great examples of this)

The other problem in my eyes is the footage itself. It's just plain boring, its a load of boxes and overview clicking in the heat of battle, while you could try and go for the cinematic shots like the Alliance tourny folk, it's just not practical in that situation unless you had a dedicated camera man who followed you around, but even then you can't see health bars etc without the camera guy locking, and well, he is going to die. Quickly.

Rooks and Kings probably do the best stuff on youtube. gives you a completely different insight into the normal blob mentality
