Who can solo level 4 missions?

Please no BS now. Serious question. I've been soloing level 3's now with ease in my Dom ship full up on cap rechargers and armour repairs. Armour tanking and only using drones. Been using drones and armour tanking for 5 years and has always been good for me. But I see people taking level 4 missions with ease. Shield tanking with no problems as I pick of the targets with my drones. But when I try level 4 solo I always get overwhelmed. Running 2 large armour repairs Tec 2 can't keep up with the bombardment. 3 however will but the cap drain is too much and can't hold out for more than a few. And this is even after I put my armour restance to over 80% to the damage type being delt.

But now I think after all this time I might give something else a try. Put my dom away and my drones to sleep. What would you recommend for level 4 solo mission runnings? What ship, fit and skills to level 5?

use mission-specific hardeners and read the mission descriptions on eve-survival - avoid triggering new spawns until all aggressed spawns are cleared out.

dual-rep dominix is perfectly fine for lvl4s.

http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=MissionReports <- Mission Guide.

Dual Rep Dominix

2x LAR II
4 T2 Hardeners (Mission Specific, Example: 2x EM / 2 Therm against Bloods/Sansha)

Rest basicly filled with Cap Modules (Relays and Rechargers) until you are cap Stable (Capacitator Control Circuits as Rigs help a lot here).

And if u got any spare med slots, use a tracking link for your drones.

I use a Raven to do them personally. It is a pretty easy going ship you can almost be casual about it.

A lot of people say go with Rigor Rigs but I prefer CCC's since I can run the Tank of the recharge. It is mostly Missions like the Blockade where I need to run the Cap Booster maybe even Warp out once. Pretty much any other missions I don't even bother with it or only use a couple of Charges. With CCC's Precision Missiles are a god send for taking out Cruisers. I use a Meta 4 Shield Booster for fitting so I can have a Sig Amp since their are times when the enemy spawns about 100km away. I will upgrade that to faction though.

I like this Ship because it is lazy I often alt tab out to do other stuff after I pick a target so Blitzing is not really my thing. I make good money between it and my Noctis. The Tractor Beam is so I can grab any Mission items if they are close before I grab my Salvage Boat.

Seems to answer the exact question he asked.

He wants a new Ship I showed him my Raven and told him how I Fly her.

A simpler question would be, who CANT solo lvl4 missions?

My drake does fine on level 4s.

I think the problem here is not your setup, but your tactics.
Read up on the spawns on eve survival, and also.. DO NOT SIT STILL!

Moving and messing with npc ranges and tracking works magic, even in larger ships. I speedtank most of the things when I'm in a level 4 mission in my drake, using an AB.

Does railgun ammunition come in Hollow Point?

Why would running lvl 4s be hard in a domi with 2x tech 2 repairers running be hard.

And you said you have been running level 3s for 5 years.

Something odd is going on here.

If you fit mission specific hardeners and avoid the triggers it is quite easy to solo most of them.
Having the right ship for the mission also helps, I usually switch between 3 different battleships (Maelstrom, Apoc, Raven) to have the best tool for the job.
Still, there is stuff that is hard to do solo, like the Angels Extravaganza bonus room (for me, at least- i have to warp out so often that it becomes inefficient). But eve survival should be your best friend, as mentioned above.

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

me.
in a hurricane.
and i'm not even reading eve survival.
Not my own missions though, but those of others.

Yeah, i like doing it the hard way, because the way how many others play them is just boring and too easy.

LVL 4 missions is where you really need to stop clowning around just guessing your way through it (unless you have the EVE knowledge to guess properly well).

- you really have to fit appropriate hardeners for every mission, you can't just get away with doing "whatever"
- you HAVE to read up on how to do each mission: what to shoot first, what to shoot last, how to behave

For both of those use eve-survival, and put in the effort to learn about the different NPC factions and how they behave. Apart from that you have to start fitting properly. Below I'll post a fit that is VERY tanky at the cost of dps, for starters it's the safest way. if you can't make it with that fit (or comparable named) then I don't know what to tell you...

I find this very hard to believe. A dual repped domi can chew thru practically any l4 easily (tho there's one Amarr mission that gives me diarrhea sometimes). Would be more helpful if you posted your fit - a poor fit ie. wrong hardeners would make things very difficult. I use a Dominix Navy issue myself for l4 and although it's a lot tougher I can't see much problem with the regular one. I have it single repped and quite often I finish missions before I even need to turn the repper on as my sentry drones and turrets crush anything before it gets close enough.

My fit is roughly:
rigs: 2 Large cap control circuit, 1 aux nano pump

5X350 railgun II
Drone Link Augmentor

4 Cap rechargers II
2 Omnidriectional tracking link II

4 T2 hardeners which type depends on faction
1 LArge armour repairer II
2 Mag field stabilizers II (sometimes i use the fed navy ones when i want to go a bit quicker0

Plus a full set of light medium and heavy and sentry drones T2.

Yeeee!

Assault frigs can solo many lvl 4 missions (not all ofc)
Something like this:

[Ishkur, PvE]

Light Neutron Blaster II, Void S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Void S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Void S
Empty High Slot

Gistii B-Type 1MN Afterburner
Cap Recharger II
Cap Recharger II

Centii C-Type Small Armor Repairer
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II

Small Hybrid Collision Accelerator I
Small Hybrid Burst Aerator I

Hobgoblin II x5

If you dont like frigates and battleships then Ishtar is your choice.
Dual rep afk Ishtar is indestructible against gurista/serpentis.

[Ishtar, PvE Lvl 4 Ishtar (Dual MAR)]
Imperial Navy Armor Thermic Hardener
Imperial Navy Armor Kinetic Hardener
Imperial Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane
Imperial Navy Medium Armor Repairer
Imperial Navy Medium Armor Repairer

Cap Recharger II
Cap Recharger II
Cap Recharger II
Large Capacitor Battery II
Domination 10MN Afterburner

150mm Prototype Gauss Gun
Small Tractor Beam I
Small Tractor Beam I
Salvager I
Salvager I

Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I

Ogre II x5

ps: Please post your Dominix fit. I'm pretty sure that you got overwhelmed because it's pretty noobish, you put wrong resists or you dont know mission triggers.
pps: Character born in 2005 shouldn't ask such noob questions, seriously.

I use a Maelstrom.

High:
T2 800mm AC x8, mission specific ammo.

Mid:
T2 Mission specific hardener x3
T2 XL shield booster
T2 Cab booster

Low:
T2 Tracking enhancer x2
T2 Gyrostabiliser x2
T2 PDU or DCII, depending on mission

Drones:
5x Hobgoblin 2
5x Hammerhead 2
1x Ogre 1

Medium and small can in the hold, stuffed full of as many cap boosters as I can and with ammo filling the gaps.

It solos Lv4 missions with barely any trouble if I pay attention, don't run the boosters too much, and don't aggro too many rats.
The only problem is that the missions are boring now. Sure, it's easy money, but it's not enough thinking.

Try a nano blaster Ferox with ECM drones to jam the big stuff. More DPS than a Drake.

On the rare event that I still run missions, I just use a Golem. But you don't even need to go that far in order to solo them. As everybody else mentioned, you simply need to fit your ship in specific for the mission you are about to do. IE: Proper hardeners, ammo, etc etc.

They are _not_ difficult to solo once you get used to it.

Also, I'm not a fan of the Domi, but it tends to be the ship of choice when it comes to solo'ing level 4's while semi-afk. Sentries, sentries, sentries.
