I don't agree. torfi answered some hard questions pretty strait up. Jades been pretty vocal against some of the things CCP has been doing. The difference is they are presented in a fashion which is slightly more constructive than the typical troll or whine threads post by people looking to get a raise. And I don't think a fracking ZEN master could get rid of all the negative energy this forums capable of producing.

Oh and we used a little officer mods. KIDDING! We used a lot of officers mods, A LOT! Because we don’t :censored: around in low-sec.

Also, if you were working there, how many trolls would you want to write responses to? Most of the "negative" threads are trolling about things that have already been answered, or based on random hypotheses about the future of the game.

Considering how much communication goes on in other games' forums directly between dev/gms and players, CCP still comes out on top in this regard. For all the ones who respond, there are probably several times more who at least read the stuff.

If they addressed all the whining, they'd probably commit suicide.

They are instead hoping that natural selection will handle all the emo's on these forums.

So them addressing issues and solutions with the ship spinner, hangar functionality, docking to cq, forums and new turret icons on friday wasn't enough for you? There has been even some progress on drone front and fixing the warp tunnel is under work. There is discussions about allowing custom content on CQ flatscreen (not desided yet). This is all from last week...

They seem to be trying hard. If you want answers, try monday and ask something constructive.
I wouldn't expect CCP employees to respond in a knee-jerk fashion to every type of post on these forums. That is not a reasonable, feasible or professional expectation. I do expect CCP to post and respond professionally and in a timely manner in the official release "issue" and "feedback" threads and, unfortunately, they rarely do so.

I am surprised that the examples given above are considered to be examples of CCP 'working hard for their customers.' These fixes are, in some cases, product-breaking bugs that should have been caught and either fixed or used to hold up Incarna 1.1.x deployment. CCP personnel should not be given a pat on the back for completing work that should have been done pre-release. Or, better yet, never introduced into the code at all.

Bugs happen, but proper planning and quality assurance-oriented program management can vastly reduce the amount of crap introduced to the code base and end-product.

I am astonished at the number of CCP apologists who would rather suffer through countless buggy releases than wait another week or month for functionality that works really well with only minor problems.

+1 for CCP to invest in excellent quality assurance-focused talent AND the project management talent with the balls + authority to hold up a code release if there are game-play breaking issues.

So.... which of the issues listed in the post you quoted was game-breaking? Was it ship spinning, hangar functionality, docking to cq, forums or turret icons? Perhaps is was drones acting up again on occasion, or the warp tunnel effect, or the lack of customizable content on the displays in your CQ? Smile

Actually, I do know what you are getting at. However there are a lot of us that have a fair understanding of the difficulties involved with catching bugs in a piece of software of this nature.

Have there been blantant screw ups?

Sure, no denying that. And some will make excuses for CCP out of product loyalty if nothing else... even when they own up to the screw up themselves.

Then again, a lot of the bugs that surface would be extremely difficult for any company to detect considering the single shard, no user limit archetecture of the game. When you have a hard cap to the number of simultaneous users that are continuously doing complex interactions via your software, life gets much easier. As we know, that is not how EVE works.

So yeah, a lot of us tend to cut CCP considerably more slack than we would someone putting out a comparatively simple offering like WOW, or WOT.

I've noticed this "trend" for bit too, but its a bit different than you describe.

If you pay closer attention, you'll see them responding to threads that are both critical and supportive of CCP and Eve Online - where they post the most though, is the threads that are RESPECTFUL in tone and language.

Most of the "raising a concern about the game" posts really start out something like...." EFF YOU CCP YOU DONT CARE ABOUT US BLAH BLAH BLAH GIVE US CAKE OR WE WILL QUIT BLAH BLAH RAGE BLAH BLAH YOU FAIL CCP"

And whether they had a good point or not, no one wants to respond to a-holes and encourage childish behavior. Just like when dealing with children, when they ask nicely, that is when you give them cake. When they throw tantrums and rage and cuss and make demands, its better to ignore them to discourage this behavior.

Your assertion that they ignore threads that question the direction of the game or draw criticism to certain features is simply unfounded. There are numerous examples. Read mawr.

And as to your "silly little vampires/dust" comment - that attitude also probably isn't going to get you very far with the developers either, who have their own creative vision. This is their project, not yours.

Dust is an integral part of Eve, and is a FiS expansion too (wha???? Look - planetary bombardment and planetside sovereignty structures will fundamentally change the way alliances rise to and hold their power. Nuff said. Have some patience, you'll see.)

WoD is simply a different genre - your "spaceships>vampires" preference is really irrelevant to those that have the money and want to make that game. There are plenty of nerds here who arent uppity about WHICH type of nerdy genre they indulge in, and enjoy any good game whether it has vampires, spaceships, elves, or orcs. People play different games, deal with it.

Remember everyone - you are not paying for a custom game. If you want to start your own company that ignores shooters and vampires, go for it. Hire your own devs and front your own cash. But dont try to hijack CCP because they dont fit into YOUR creative vision.
