Read This.

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Sometimes when I post, I look at my sig and wish that I'd follow my own god damned advice.

30 jumps away is irrelevant. Distance has no bearing on whether you are on the same node or not.

Also, prior to TiDi, if that battle crashed the node your system would have crashed as well.

Count your blessings.

It lets people actually stay connected and interact rather than randomly watch black screens.

From his perspective, it could take ~4h of black-screen followed by loading nothing but a pod (or a clonebay). He should be happy with 45 minutes.

I was just a part of a fight that had 1700 people in local. The node was NOT reinforced and I had 10-15 second module lag. Things worked and the game did not break.

I've been playing this game since 2006. I've experienced the worst CCP code has to bring and this was the most amazing god damn thing ever.

The game worked. The game simply worked.

Those of us with balls who remember the IT fights and the NC/DRF fights, remember loading in to o2o and it taking 40+ mins for grid to load... TD is an amazing change. 1600+ people in OP9Z-I and it was possible to fight, thanks CCP

Pampers, you clearly haven't experienced massive fleet fights before time dilation, otherwise you wouldn't have posted this. Time dilation is not what makes the fleet fights lag, lag is what makes them lag. Time dilation makes the lag smooth, instead of this:

I was in a huge fleet fight back in Incursion, 800+ pilots in system. The lag was so bad that I was never sure if my click had ever been received by the server. Some ships seemed to get prioritized over others. I saw an onyx bearing down on me and the FC was screaming "Kill that Onyx!!" So I targeted it.

15 minuted later I heard the target lock sound. I click to fire my weapons and sit back to wait for the server to receive my request.

About 10 minutes later I'm still waiting for my weapons to fire and I see the Onyx blow up. I try to cancel them now, and notice I'm coasting forward. OOPS! I try to stop my ship and turn it back around.

Every 10-15 minutes after that I see periodic updates around me but my ship remains in stasis for close to an hour. Then all of a sudden my ship teleports 150km across the battlefield, right into the midst of the enemy capital fleet. Apparently the server never received my change of velocity request.

15 minutes later I see a wreck sitting next to my ship labeled "Reaver Glitterstim's Drake" but my ship still appears to be intact. 10 minutes later several ships appear around me and my wreck.

It was about a half hour after that that I found myself in my medclone station.

Time dilation is a blessing from the Gods at CCP Headquarters.

FT Diomedes: "Reaver, sometimes I wonder what you are thinking when you sit down to post."

Frostys Virpio: "We have to give it to him that he does put more effort than the vast majority in his idea but damn does it sometime come out of nowhere."

I was one of the ones who weren't involved in the battles, yet got the "pleasure" to experience time dilation on a first hand basis. Sure, it's good for fleet battle, but sucks balls for anyone else on the node not in the battle. Hopefully sometime in the near future they find a way to auto switch the nodes to isolate the battles and time dilation onto their own.

Please explain how having your system run slowly is worse than having it not run at all? I mean those are the two alternatives, and no amount of cogitation on the matter turns up a result in which I can see a crashed node being better for those not directly involved in the fight....

I never said TiDi was worse than node crashes and so on sir, just pointed out it sucks balls for anyone who isn't in on the fleet battles or whatever else is causing the TiDi. I wasn't saying or implying in any way that TiDi was worse than node crashes. Just wish there was a way where they could isolate the systems that cause TiDi to come into effect.

Does your training time slow down from TiDi?

Just wondering if that is why the OP is so dense.
