Floppie for CSM?

edit 2: I've posted a more detailed statement on my blog. Direct link to that post.

I've had a few requests that I run for CSM. I wasn't planning on it, so I'm considering this to be an exploratory post. If I get the 100 likes, I guess I'm in. If not, I'll continue on with the plans I already had in place.

I'm primarily known as the noisiest member of The Skunkworks. A lot of people will simply associate me with the griefing, highsec wars, and other antics of that corporation. Whether you approve of what we do or not, that's not all I am.

I am a newer player, with just under two years of experience in Eve. This means there are things I haven't seen and I don't have the perspective on history that older players have. It also means that I better understand the new player experience as it stands today. I know what it's like to be six years behind the players with whom I am competing.

What I do now isn't what I always did. I spent my first ~15 months of gameplay as an industrialist carebear. I believe the game needs more content for the small corp just getting started, because that's what most of them are. I want to see highsec given more compelling content in the form of story arcs. I want corp membership to count for more than a chat channel and a common hangar. I want to see lowsec become a viable goal for small groups who don't have the numbers to gain sovereignty but are willing to fight to defend their territory.

I also know what it's like on the other side. I've been a griefer, a pirate, a ganker, a blops pilot, and a small gang fleet member. I know the frustrations of aggression mechanics and the now-legal wardec exploits.

In short, I'm a moderate who has no allegiance to nullsec, but no hatred for the big alliances either. If you're looking for a highsec candidate, I've lived there since I started playing. If you're looking for someone who won't play favorites, I've played the good and the bad, and I want to see both continue to grow and thrive in the sandbox. If you're looking for a Goon...Lyris' thread is over there -->

edit: wow, 25 likes. Thanks for the support guys.

edit3: and about to break 75. I suppose I should start taking this seriously.

edit4: There's a problem with my campaign. I've never traveled out of the country so I've never had need of a passport. I've put in for one but I'm told it takes a while; I won't have it in time to produce a scan for the official application. At this point, I appear to have no option but to bow out and get my passport in order for NEXT year. Barring a ruling from CCP allowing me on the ballot without the proper paperwork, this was over before it started.

So unless something changes, I'm endorsing Darius III because he's a sensible guy with some good ideas. I've been around him enough to know that he's intelligent, creative, and above all, capable of being impartial where it matters. We don't always agree on what needs to be fixed or how to fix it, but I respect his opinions.

You got my vote.....Floppie and I may not quite see eye to eye (literal?).....but I've always known him to be sensible..rational...intelligent..clever....and fair/balanced in terms of in-game mechanics...even if he pushes them to their limits. Pirate

Pushing to the limits is the only way to know where the limits are! Besides, I've been involved in actions that got CCP to patch bugs in days instead of months. It's a service, really.

I wrote about that here: http://stinkinguplocal.wordpress.com/2012/01/23/fixing-eve-incursions/

I think vanguards pay too much, and I think Incursion lacks anti-farming incentives. I've posted a number of possible solutions since I got personally involved in incursions 3-4 months ago, everything from rebalancing payouts (less for vanguard, more for assault/hq) to reducing payouts as the incursion progresses to making the sites more varied to introduce a higher level of difficulty.

Any fix should be done in small increments where possible until a reasonable balance is achieved, as CCP's record with making sweeping changes doesn't exactly instill confidence.

You don't seem to have any kind of agenda other than making the game better. Eve needs CSMs like you. +1.

Shamelessly bumping my thread back to the front page under the pretense of asking a question.

What issues do you guys consider important? Here's a few things that have been on my mind lately:

- Balancing incursion income and/or making incursions harder.

- Rebuilding the warfare system to remove exploits and give it more direction

- Making lowsec more than a place that Concord won't shoot you. This includes improvements to FW, as well as creating better incentives for carebears to want to be there.

- Various POS issues, from management to contesting them in highsec to the ability to "steal" abandoned ones rather than destroying them.

Sir:
The word "shamelessly" does not in any way belong in the world of politics. I urge you to forget about the concept of shamelessness and win this election!

I'll take that under advisement. (/politician mode)

So I put up a more detail campaigned page. I didn't feel like building a page from scratch so I just used my blog.
