Please either add a preview pane for mail and/or a next/previous button. Going through a series of mail is such a hassle.

You could always read your mail via another program through the API and then just mark them all as read. Or read them in-game. I don't think that we need a full email client for evemail.

... This is a basic feature that any basic mail program should have. Its not even just for convenience, its an expected basic feature. I'm not asking for it to be able to index my entire inbox so that I can have nicely formatted summaries of all the mail I received in the last 24, 72, or 1600 hours. I'm just asking for the ability for evemail to meet basic functional requirements for a program of its type by allowing me to actually view mail properly.

Edit: It seems you didn't understand the second point of the original message. If it has a "next" and "previous" button, then it will satisfy the requirements. If they want to add a preview pane as well, so much the better.

Sounds like you're getting your perception of what a mail program "should" have confused with a universal truth. If you feel like a site to read EveMail should have certain features, then make your own site. That's part of why the API's there, to let people view the information any way they feel like.

You can feel free to write a polite request for a feature, but you can't expect "because I say so" to be a valid reasoning behind a demand for said feature. And you certainly can't get upset about people suggesting alternate solutions (which don't take CCP's time away from more important things) when you haven't tried them yourself.

Besides, as I said in my earlier post, I'm fairly sure the in-game EveMail window does have a preview pane, so why can't you just use that? Mail in Eve Gate was designed to be a supplement to the in-game mail access, not a replacement.

Great idea.

There is a preview pain below the list of emails but when you grab it with the mouse it sinks to the bottom and disappears.

See my friend's thread: The little things.

It is in this subforum, so you won't have to look around for long.

Also, as it turns out companies can actually use GMail for their own domain. What if CCP rebuilt the EVEMail Client to use a modifeid version of GMail?

This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Well, since Evemail isn't actually mail, it's more like a PM on a forum, it would take extensive re-working. Besides the point that most people (CCP included likely) would prefer to keep their data from Eve on the Eve servers. And on top of all that, I bet there are some significant fees involved with getting Goggle to handle all the mail for Eve.

Not in-game. Eve-gate.

I'm not even sure why I'm arguing with you. CCP has offered a product and I am telling them of a missing capability that such a program should have.

And at what point did I say "because I say so", the justification is that its a missing functionality of their product. The ability to step through mail is a function of mail client, having to go in and out of mail viewing to read unread mail isn't really a feature... its a requirement for such a program, a truly basic one at that.
