You make it sound so appealing.

I really enjoy just exploring brave new worlds, and doing absolutely insane things that have a 0% survivability rate, which is everything in the game you do solo essentially.

Despite this, my last ship loss was in November in an accident :3

But really, do dangerous things in even more expensive ships, or else you die a little inside

The pie is a tautology

Having a lot of friends around to help you achieve your goals is not solo play.

If you want to play solo then you're going to require alts to do it. I find that the more "solo" players usually have between 3 and 8 alts (accounts) to suit their needs.

Many people are going to disagree that one requires more accounts to play solo. They would be correct to an extent. WIthout an army of alts and depending on which area of the game you're interested in, your efficacy will be extremely limited.

This is not true. I have one alt only... and with the exception of gate camping the alt is more trouble than he's worth to fly in support. It takes one account to play this game. Only one. You want to branch out go ahead... but to speak of 'efficiency' requires a goal and with regards to mining or something stupid that may be the case. However, nothing is more efficient imho than only having to split the loot one way. If the players are who you play against... it only takes one. ...unless they bring friends... then it only takes one to run away! Big smile

For example, w-space. You might need to close your outgoing/incoming wh's for security reasons. If it happens to be a busy day that could be as many as 6 wh's. Now, you're going to tell us that you're going to solo close 6 holes that at best will take you about half an hour for each? Or go solo an anomaly for 45 minutes and see how many you can abandon in a row when you see someone on dscan, if you're that lucky. Raise thumb, insert into anus. When the warm fuzzy sensation is gone you've had enough Eve solo with one account, mmm'kay?

OK well I'm not sure I was implying that you can do whatever you want to do... obviously yes if you have a corp there are orders of magnitudes more options (variables one might argue), but no I still say you are doing it wrong solo-style. "You might need to close your outgoing/incoming wh's for security reasons." Uh... well no not really. If you are a solo player you aren't in a position to be running a POS in WH space. What you ARE in a position to do is go from WH to WH and find one w/ some people doing smack, and start killing them. Or you could camp their hole to highsec and loot their transports running for supplies or to sell sleeper parts. Getting a hauler kill is fun and profitable. Getting 8 back to back is a and a damn good solo pirate story. There are a zillion ways to play this game. I do a lot of different things solo and enjoy them. If you dig thumb in butt as you play good on you. To each their own. I'm just saying solo is viable, profitable, and fun. You just can't think like an indy or a miner or a corp. You gotta think like a bum, or a salvager, or a ninja.

Agreed that having 2 accounts make solo play more viable. Otherwise your just cannon fodder. Even on PvE it boost your productivity quite a bit.

If you want to shoot people and blow up space ships then playing solo is a bad idea(you can do it its just a poor fit.)

If you want to get rich playing solo works fine.

I am dismayed.

I'm solo, one single account, and seem to find fights.

If you really are Solo you should be too busy running bug tests and putting up with dumb questions while drinking Scotch.

No one mention exploration ? This is in my opinion best solo path for eve online. If you make orca(as mobile base) alt you can go deep it to WH and live realy nice nomad live.
