Laser crystals?

Hello.

I was told that laser crystals last forever except for tech 2 and faction versions.

But from crystal ammo info screen, I see Volatility 1% and Volatility Damage 25%? Does that mean tech 1 crystals will eventually break or are the tech 1 crystals bugged at the moment?

No, T1 crystals work fine and don't get damaged. You can just ignore the Volatility and Damage in the show info screen.

I was under the impression that laser crystals, like mining crystals, will wear out over time. I have not used energy weapons in quite some time, but unless this has changed with Crucible, they will eventually need replacing.

There are some legacy attributes on modules/ships that have no effect now. The state of lasers is:


  • Plain T1 laser crystals last forever
  • Faction laser crystals last for ~10000 shots (the damage they take is slightly random)
  • T2 laser crystals last for ~2000 shots (if i recall correctly; the damage they take is also slightly random)

well the price of those will bottom out now... :/

No, really?

It's been this way since before I started playing 3 years ago. Because of ease of manufacture, T1 ammo across the board is worth only marginally more than its mineral price.

However, nobody uses T1 ammo except for PvE. In that respect, lasers are more convenient because you never have to reload.

In PvP, I have never managed to survive long enough that frying my faction/T2 crystals was an issue.

Yup been laying since 2008, T1 crystals last forever this whole time.

But the prices aren't weird cause of this comparison:

You only buy the guns once too, why aren't their prices screwy? =D
