you know if you use 6 probes, move them all away you get a three teeny green lines that make it much easier to set up your probing.

my only beef is not being able to look straight down at a 90 degree angle

This is another sad case where OP didn't look up probing techniques on Youtube before posting terribad idea.

Please do your research before posting, some people can scan down 1-2 signatures a minute, this suggestion would increase this significantly

Shut up. Like I said, this is not a bad idea. So stop calling it terribad. Does it break the gameplay? No. Does it cause balance issues? Not really. Does it make things harder? No, it does the opposite.

Besides, what if you try to increase or decrease the distance between probes while still keeping their distance from eachother? You still have to go through the trouble of positioning them individually and the like.

Besides, some people don't know these things, so why not give them a hand, eh?

This is the kind of thing that deserves the "Why not?" classifciation. It wouldn't take CCP that long to program, they have all of the power they need to do so, and it would make scanning things less frusterating.

Besides, I already got the hang of it a few hours ago. You're right, it takes some practice, but not everyone learns at the same speed as others, and some people learn some things quickly and other things slowly.

TL:DR Sometimes the little things are the best changes, but it is impossible for those kinds of things to go into effect because of the average forum user.

Probing article in the EVElopedia. Note that it doesn't mention alt-clicking yet. It's locked of course, so I can't fix it.

This is also useful to know. Thanks.

Look, guys. Everyone needs help with something at some point, and quite a few people I know in-game don't have many friends who are readily available.

And I like that one guy's idea on making it so that you can look straight up or straight down ad a full 90-degree angle.

Also, I would flip one of you off right about now, but I am feeling generous. I'm looking at you, Xolve.

HEY! That's my job!

Then you ask nicely for some help, either in Missions and Complexes or in the Exploration channel in game, where there are explorers. Posting in F&I with what amounts to "The game should do this profession, which requires skill and practice, for me" is a way to get flamed.

There's a difference between "Hey, maybe I'm not getting this, could someone explain it" and "I'm not getting it, therefore CCP should change the game to make it easier".

I agree that that everybody needs help, but you need to ask for it and learn how its currently done before suggesting changes, or else your going to get ganked on the forums. Do your research and get good at it, then make changes. A little check list I like to go through before suggesting a change on F&I (unless I'm drunk, then all bets are off, and I drink a lot)

-Am I proficient at the mechanic I'm suggesting a change to, if not do that first
-Look up videos and research on the forums past suggestions to any issues I might have
-Post a question to the new citizens sub-forum as General Discussion will get trolled
-Once I know the subject inside and out, then analyze my idea to see if it would improve the current system and not overpower it
-Finally, after all that I make the post to F&I

Lazyness is no excuse for ignorance, there is a wealth of information about Eve all over the place if you just look. People are nice if you just ask how to do something they will understand, they had to learn too. Suggesting changes to something you don't completely understand is the best way to get flamed.

EDIT: and mxzf beats me to the 'do your research' post...

MMOs come and go, but Eve remains.  -Garresh-

No, your post was well written too, research is definitely important, especially before posting here (not that pretty much anyone bothers researching, or even thinking, before making threads here, but that's beside the point). I was mostly going for "Ask nicely for info before demanding change".
