When I'm attacking small ships in Level 4 Missions the only time my Orge I's seem to do any damage is when they have used there MWD's to get to the target. After that they just stop doing any damage to the target. Should I keep Hobgoblin's or something like that aboard? I'm just thinking that it might be a lack of speed issue. Any ideas anyone?

Alexia

Edit: I'm actually currently getting warp scrambled from a small ship which I'm not doing any damage to.. I'm not sure what to do.

Try to keep a set of small or medium drones for frigs and cruisers, heavy and sentry drones wont be able to hit them for beans.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

THeir tracking is worse than hobs tracking, so use light drones for frigs, medium drones for cruisers, etc.

As a general rule of thumb... always keep a full flight of Hobgoblin or Warriors in your drone bay.

Honestly, it seems that there's something weird going on with drone tracking. What that is hasn't (to my knowledge) been determined. But for now, be absolutely sure you have lights (and usually you'd want lights for frigates anyhow).

Thanks for all your help everyone. I will in future. I've just logged off hoping that I will manage to get free of the the frigates attacking me that I can't kill (Still warp scrambled).

I hear all these stories about people getting trapped in missions due to scram drones with no danger of dying, jsut getting stuck. Why doesnt anyone just ask for help in local?

Always have a flight of hobs and hammerheads in your bay. Those are the only drones that'll do any meaningful damage to spider drone/webber/scram frigs. Most pve ships have space enough for those only.

Now since you said heavies, i assume you are flying a gallante like a domi or something. A t2 heavy or sentry is very effective. there is a very measurable difference between their t1 counterparts. so don't get dejected if those t1 drones don't live up to your expectations. oh and you will need drone interfacing to lvl5.

Now if you are not flying a domi, then i'd strongly advise you never to have heavies on board. a standard 75m3 drone bay in almost all common pve ships need 5 x hobs and 5 x hammers. Nothing else.

Because that would go against the nature of most MSOGFG's

Massively Singleplayer Online Gold Farming Game.

OP I would train Scout Drone OP V to get T2 Mediums. They do close to the same Damage as T1 Heavies.

Use lights and mediums as stated above.

One reason the Ogres do damage initially is the low tranversal on approach, I have been lazy in missions and not swapped drones my Ogre II's can come close to alpha striking a mission frig, one trick you can use if you have no other drones is to send them to attack an object further away then set them on the frigate again and they should do some initial damage, Repeat as required.

I'm going to assume you're using a Gallente battleship, in which case we're looking at a Domi as the best drone boat.

Pack 5 Ogres, 5 sentries of choice, 5 Hammerhead, 5 Hobgoblin. You're covered for all eventualities then. Drop sentries for ranged stuff, or alternatively physically fly the Ogres to their target.
It should go without saying, btw, that the second you're being scrammed by a non-trigger frigate, that rat should be your immediate primary target and you need to get into that habit incredibly quickly, before you move up to more expensive vessels.

The Gaming MoD - retro to modern, console to MMO, I blog about it if it's a game and I'm interested in it. Yes, I play games other than Eve and I don't care if you think I'm wrong.

If your Ogre MWD towards a target, they can hit it better, because there's no transversal speed and tracking is more efficient. When they arrive in their optimal, they will orbit the target and tracking becomes important.

If you have good skills and use 2 omnis the Ogre II will even kill elite frigs.

So if you lost your small drones and are stuck, let the Heavies MWD towars and back to your ship, to be able to kill said frigs.

If you're in a droneboat, use Omnidirectional Tracking Links and your Ogres will kill frigates, cruisers and BS with ease.
