OK so I finished up all the training at my first university all missions for all 5 agents. One of them, Artgert Andreas (I beleive) had given me a letter of recommendation for the militia. Which I guess is supposed to be my next stop as no one else gave me any leads.

I managed to log off before setting the destination given in the agent dialog and I don't have an entry in my log book. How do I get this location again? Its time to move on and do some more training but I don't know where to go.

Thanks for the help.

If I recall correctly, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but that letter has something to do with joining Factional Warfare. Something along the lines of 'you can't do it until you receive this letter once'. Specifically the letter says:

"For the eyes of Militia recruitment officers:
Sir,
I do hereby certify and vouchsafe that the bearer of this document is a newly-certified capsuleer of good character and firm disposition, whom I do rightly judge is a fine and worthy candidate for enrolment into our most esteemed and successful Militia organization.

Furthermore, I have verified that, at time of issuance, the bearer does meet the criteria for Fast Track recruitment, namely that:

The pilot's sign-in account is less than thirty (30) days old
The pilot's standings with our faction are not lower than zero (0)
The pilot's standings with our faction are below the standard zero-point-five (0.5) threshold for recruitment

Please verify that these details are correct at time of your receipt of this document. If everything is in order then I formally request that you enroll the bearer into the Militia without hesitation or delay, that they might further serve the just and righteous cause of our people."

Furthermore, according to UniWiki, "The Advanced Military Agent will give a Letter of Recommendation that can be used to enter the NPC Factional Warfare corporation. Factional Warfare Guide"

As far as where to go next, what do you plan on doing more of? Mission running? PvP? Mining? Industry? Trade?

What'cha wanna do, good sir?

That's the million dollar question. I really enjoyed the scanning, mining is interesting but but a bit mundane. I am not sure how I feel about the battle mechanics and outright fighting, though I think a good bit of that is a lack of skill training and low end ships/weapons combo available to me at this early juncture.

I have most of my good packed up the cargo hold of my wreathe and I'm ready to jet somewhere.... I just don't know where. Maybe corp life, maybe factional fighting. Maybe both?

Suggestions welcome.

My first time through the game I chose to be a miner. I felt like I didn't know HOW to PvP effectively so I chose the industrial route to learn from other people. It's not a bad way to go. By the time you get into a Hulk and are uber-mining, you'll have learned enough through talking to people and through observation how PvP works, and you'll have a strong backbone to manufacture the things you'll need yourself.

My personal next step was Factional Warfare. This is where I learned small-gang tactics, which served me really well and taught me that I'm not one for big giant fleet fights. Hit and runs are my bag, and small-gang FC'ing is my bag. It gives you a nice controlled environment to try PvP, learn from it, and to do so without much ISK loss.

After that I went Wormhole. Wormhole is where I earned my mega dollars and became a filthy rich bastard. It put all my learned PvP and Industrial skills to the test all at one time. Talk about a thrill!

My most common suggestion is to read this. It gives you a good detailed taste of everything, and maybe even some things you never thought of.

Lastly, please please PLEASE ask questions on the forums and the help channel! There are no better resources in this game. (Most) People are friendly and welcoming and will help you with just about anything.

Now is when you have to decide what sounds appealing. Fortunately, regardless what you decide, there are corporations whose goal is take you beyond the tutorial.

If you are looking for more of the basic ropes and how to live in Hi-sec doing hi-sec things like mining, industry and missions, you should check out EvE University: http://www.eveuniversity.org/

If you are wanting to see the PvP side of things and are curious about the sections of space that "seem" scary, then I whole heartily recommend Open University of Celestial Hardship (OUCH). OUCH's recruitment channel is OUCH-UNI. Their corp ad page is here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=7370

As you will be aware very soon, simply completing the tutorial doesn't help much in the way of focus. Joining a training corp will not only help ease you into various aspects of the game, they will also give you intelligent exposure to EvE's mechanics so you can make a more informed decision on what you want to do.

If you decide that you want to ease into the PvP side of things, feel free to hit me up in game on either Kraven Stark or Cyd Barrett.

Also, check out this image; it's a nice overview of the different things to do in Eve and the directions you can go. Pick something to do and go for it.

I've never seen that matrix before. That's an incredibly good resource :) I'll have to couple that with the ISK guide links I usually provide.

Yep, St Mio put that together a while ago and I link it in this forum all the time. (S)He also has a guide to using DSPs for probing also.

At the end of each Career agents mission series, they mention Sister Alitura in Arnon system seeking Capsuleers to complete the level 1 SoE epic arc which is another option besides joining Factional Warfare.

Once you finish the tutorial you should decide on what you want to do next and look for a player corporation to help you get there. Here are somethings that may or may not be helpful:

  • Piracy is the most fun thing to do (but I may be a bit biased here)
  • Better to stay away from mining.
  • Eve University has a excellent resources, so join their chat channel, read their wiki, but I would steer you away from actually joining them.
  • If you decide to join the militia after all it is better to find a player corp which is already in the militia, rather than join in NPC militia corp
  • If you can't decide right now, you can go to Arnon and do the Sisters of Eve Epic arc, to get some nice rewards for a new player and get you something to do while you decide and train some basic skills.
