Eve runs perfectly well and smoothly at high settings on my mac, bar one problem.

Every time I open the fitting screen while docked, the game crashes. Like many others, a power button reset is the only option.

From sniffing around the forums it seems this has become a common problem since crucible.

I can sometimes open the fitting screen from captains quarters (rarely) and always whilst in space (useless), but as I can't change modules the game is unplayable.

Hello all, I have had the problem where I would attempt to run my eve, the loadup screen saying cruciable will pop up, then it would dissapear, no client would start and my mac would have a lagfest until i forcequit.
HOWEVER I have found a way around this. This includes deleting the cache and a bunch of preferences from your computer as well as all the previous patches. I am assuming that the latest patch made to macs were creating a conflict with pervious patches. anyways here we begin,

Open finder --> /Users/your username/Library/Application Support/EVE Online/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility

Now that you are here

1) open cache and delete ALL folders and files within
2) open cache backup and delete ALL folder and files within
3) open settings and delete all except browser (saves your browser bookmarks)

I am currently in the process of seeing what else can be done to preserve the personal settings but heck I'd rather remake all my settings and whatnot than have to wait for a failed patch from transgaming, NOT CCP. Transgaming has already pissed me enough from another game they shut out...ahem...League of Legends...*cough cough*.

Anyway GL with macs! MACS FTW!

EDIT:
I am assuming that if you only delete the patch files from the cache and cache backup folders the fix may be found without the loss of bookmarks and personal preferences which include all the chat groups you are subscribed to, market favorites, toolbar setup, overview setups. However personal bookmarks are not affected but game settings such as quality and station environment will be changed to default. I would be glad if someone could tell me if only deleting the patch files would allow EVE to run properly. I am currently in the process of remaking my chats and overview settings.

I must be doing something wrong. I tried to follow similar directions from another poster last night and I had no luck. I can browse as far as /Users/your username/Library/Application Support/ but after that there is no eve online folder. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. I have not been using a Mac but for about 3 months so it may just be a learning curve for me.

Well, I don't know what I was doing wrong last night, but your instructions worked perfectly! :-) I am back in business. THANK YOU! Pirate

Would like some of you to try something, and paste your results. Go to your /Users/your_username/Library/Application Support/EVE Online folder. Open "ftfontcache" file with text editor, and check to see if the fonts listed in this file correspond to the fonts you have in /System/Library/Fonts.

If so, note the size of this file (mine is 45kb), and find a backup from time machine or something PRIOR to the patch from Nov 26th when this all started. Check that file, and see what fonts are listed, and the size of thar file, then paste here.

hi @ all,

i was having problems ever since crucible, NEVER before. its getting really annoying thats why i am here. i see i am not alone. apart from the more frequent crashes (2x per day) and the havoc right after one patch with docking crash for days. the most annoying problem i have is that the keyboard focus keeps changing all the time. i can be typing in the chat. suddenly the entire chat is scrolling through, keyboard become unresponsive and when responding its not typing in the chat, its giving short-cut commands. i dont know how often i was orbiting, approaching, targeting etc when i had my keyboard focus on the chat and it changed suddenly.

shock is the non existing response here from CCP. crucible is a disaster at this stage of development. Cry

thanks

Yup, also common problem, as if the chat windows suddently have to "reload" and the focus follows. Irritating when you're typing an evemail and suddenly you're typing in some chat channel.

Prior to november's patch, they DID used to delete themselves, or at least they downloaded and unpacked to another directory.. probably /tmp.

However I do not believe the patch files themselves have anything to do with the lag. What is more likely going on is in the rest of the cache files being read, and having those resources loaded. Although it's seemingly fixed, I would stand to believe that in a few weeks to a few months, as teh cached files build up again, the same issues will present themselves.
