Corporate Woes

So, after leaving my last PvP oriented corp (and spending ages looking for a new one) I finally broke down, and went to the recruitment channel and posted my "resume"

After weeding through the dozens of convo's and evemails, I finally decided on a small-ish highsec PvP corp. The CEO promised lots of action and very experienced, active members. He said he personally has over 70 million skillpoints, and mostly FCs shield gangs. That is something I was quite interested in, as I enjoy flying nano ships.

After being with them for a few days, I've come to find out that the CEO knows very little of PvP... Either that, or he's such a tactical genius that I simply cannot comprehend. He flew an active shield tanked, afterburner fit vagabond into a fight, and died horribly. He constantly argues that his armor jag is superior to most other AFs. (Personally I wouldn't know, as I've never flown an armor Jag) and just generally talks out of his ass.

He has constantly led us into battle with fail fit ships / tactics / fleet setups, and its finally driven me to the point to where I'm ready to just leave the corp. The problem is, the other guys in the corp are amazingly good friends, and I highly doubt they'd follow me if I left. Also, the CEO isn't that bad of a guy, just a terrible leader Ugh

What would your advice be? Just leave the corp and screw the guys there, or maybe approach this with a different tactic? I hate to insult the CEO, but he doesn't take criticism very well at all. Also, since most of the guys in corp arent as experienced as he said they were, they tend to follow him without question

I'd really rather not slander their reputation. He's a nice enough guy, but he seems to lack experience... which is odd for a 70 million SP character

You could try buying him some PVP training at Agony Unleashed if they are still doing that sort of thing.

It could however be taken the wrong way, like buying the girlfriend some cooking classes.

If the other members are as frustrated with this as you are, then mass-quit and move to a new corp, and maybe make some waves by wardeccing this fail one.

If not, then quit and go someplace better, but keep in touch with your friends there via the corp's public channel or a private channel just for you guys.

But definitely, definitely do not stay.

PS: hisec PvP sucks. Come to lowsec (maybe even FW), it's fun!

Believe it or not, an AB shield booster vaga wasn't that hard to find with a little Google-fu.

Always look up killboard statistics about members of the corporation prior to joining. You'd have seen his "leet skills" and could have avoided the situation entirely.

However

Now that you are in the corporation, maybe you could do a bit of research. Go rummage through the killboards and show them successful fits. Show them ships that get killed a lot and explain why. Don't blame them or say "they're doing it wrong", just point out the statistics and the reasoning and let them come to their own conclusions. An active shield tanked afterburner vagabond... there have gotta be lots of those kills around lol. Additionally you could try FCing your own fleets, and in doing so you could advise them on how to fit their ships for your particular fleet makeup. Maybe after some successful runs they will start seeing the light.

Tact, my friend... lots and lots of tact.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

I like this advice. Now that I think about it, I have a friend that does regular "PvP Classes"

I suppose I could try to show some of the guys a thing or two, but I have no patience and am a terrible teacher

Yep, FCing your own fleets sounds like a good way to deal with this, assuming you actually know how to FC a fleet Lol
(though if you don't, roll an alt and join RVB for a week or so, they're always looking for new FCs and there are plenty of experienced people to help you out)

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Sometimes when I post, I look at my sig and wish that I'd follow my own god damned advice.

In what world is someone named "General Sadist" a decent guy, undeserving of slander?

There are other shield booster Vagabonds out there, btw:

Good catch, didn't see that one. I still think it's the first one, though. The activity of the first pilot and corp seems to fit the high-sec pvp corp description better.
