Hello,
I recently had a 'jetcan 1 v 1' with someone else, which I won afterwards; I decided to podkill him.
What I didn't know, was that pod killing (whether with aggro or not) gives a huge penalty on your security status. I went from -0.2 to ~ -3.8. Oops

And I want to get back into high sec.
So now my question is:

If I want to get back in high security space (and most likely 1.0 aswel), Would it be faster to just grind Pirate rats, or just create a new character (This character is ~12 days old)?

I really need some help with this Sad , I don't want to waste a week of skill training and belt grinding and then realize it's going slower than I expected.

quickest way to grind standing would be to 0.0 rat (try providence it's nrds).

Failing that do it in low,

The quickest way to raise sec status when ratting is to kill the largest rat you can, then jump to another system.
I believe it only applies on teh largest rat pers system once every 20min.

So, make a loop of systems that takes you 20min.
Kill what ever the largest rat you can in each system and you'll end up with 1 sec boost per system ever 20min.

if that makes sense, I'm terrible at explaining things

Ah, I understand.

But how long would that take in a frigate(with t2 guns)?

What do you mean with 1sec boost per system?
As in +0.01?

You can enter 0.5 and 0.6 systems at -3.8 (or travel anywhere in a pod or shuttle), so you could rat those systems or do missions in them.

Whether it is worth 12 days only you can decide. I'd grind it and consider it a learning experience.

Isn't that considered an 'exploit' by CCP to get around security status ratings?

Yeah CCP doesn't look too fondly on people scrapping alts due to security status, so it is just better to grind it back up. Besides you only need above -2 to get back into all of highsec so you really don't have that far to go.

The amoun of a boost depends on the rat that you kill.

Each system will take the highest value rat as the sec boost for that system.

You get one of these every 20min.

So,
If you kill 5 cruisers at 100k isk, 5 frigs at 40k isk and 1 cruiser at 200k isk, you'd get the sec boost for the 200k isk cruiser.

The way I've done it in the past is hop into a system, kill a bs, go to the next system and repeat.
That way I cover the most amount of systems in 20min as possible and you get decent sec gain.

As for doing it in a frig, I have no idea, I've only ever done it in bc\bs's and I managed to gain 2.0 ish in about a day of doing a really half assed job.

hope that helps

It should be fairly easy in a well-fit frig with T2 weapons. I've managed to kill BS rats in a PvP fit Rifter with meta2 ACs, so a frig with T2 weapons with a dedicated fit shouldn't have too much issue handling the rats. It probably won't be as quick as using a stealth bomber, but it'll work.

+1 for podding people withing the first two weeks.

Normally people rat in 0.0 with a stealth bomber or something to get the sec status up. But in your case it might be better to just tough it out, and run missions and stay out of 0.7 systems and higher.

Fast Talk - train that up to increase the amount of security status gained for killing the single most highest bounty NPC within a 20 minute time period per system.

Since each account can have 3 characters, he wouldn't need to actually delete current character, just make new and leave this one unused.

If he does want to delete character, I definitely recommend asking CCP via petition if that is OK before actually deleting it. Generally deleting character to get rid of bad security status is considered an exploit as already said, but you could allways ask if they can make exception in this case.
