How best to play eve solo?

So ill start by saying i freaking love paying this game. However in the time i have played it seems like i have the worst luck in finding a good corporation to roll with. Youll see ymy employment history that Ive been in numerous corps trying to find the best fit and not really staying in long....As a newer player i failed to realize that this would undoutedly raise red flags to my recruitment into other corps so im taking a break from that and rolling solo.

So back to the point, what direction should a solo player take if they want to continue keeping the game fresh and exciting? I play roughly 12 hrs a week just to give an amount. The most ive ever done was running missions and an occasional wormhole but that about it...Any advice would be appreciated.

I've always primarily been a solo player. Missions are fun sometimes but can be extremely boring as well. Have you tried PVP at all yet? Get yourself a stack of Rifters and go run around lowsec belts. :)

Roll alts and try to infiltrate bad corps and take their things or blow up their shinies.

I am usually solo... and while nobody talks about solo play much it's how I roll.

There are SO many ways to go.

  • Solo gate-camp for haulers. In 0.0 litter your drag bubble with cans (50 should suffice) and start drinking in blockade runner loot. See this for legality
  • Scam. 'nuff said.
  • Ninja Loot - follow around big fleets in a cheap destroyer w/ a cloak and nab the loot from their kills. I hear Tama is a good time Big smile
  • Rat in Null Sec... no one is there anyway.
  • Missions up to level 4 are manageable solo imho
  • Start a corp and wardec a bunch of corps. It sounds suicidal but it's not. A one-man corp won't show up on the leaderships radar, but you will have carte blanche to kill their haulers in high sec. They won't notice you... but you will notice the loot Twisted

I could keep going but I gotta run. There's a lot of solo opportunity is my 2 isk...

eve really is not solo friendly .

but apart from the already suggested ideas.

you could always try the often hilarious ninja looting / salvaging.

Its always great to scan someone down warp in on their wrecks .

Maybe shoot some of their targets be sure to exclaim in local loudly. HANG ON BUDDY ILL GET THOSE BUGGERS OFF YA !!!!

Be sure to shoot some random stuff in the room and in the event you "accidentally " trigger something exclaim again. WOW NOW YOU REALLY GONE AND DONE IT .

Be sure to cloak and follow through with a play by play giving em a "ATTABOY" and "THAT"LL SHOWEM" every now and then.

In the unfortunate event they get destroyed be sure to exclaim loudly . RATS THAT TO BAD BUB, I WAS REALLY ROOTIN FOR YA , HERE LET ME GET YOUR STUFF FOR YA .

The best way to play Eve solo is to go it alone.

That made me laugh right there.
I've been a solo player ever since I started in 2005. Corps never really ammount to anything much apart from getting wardec and then your ships being blown up. I'm not much of a pvp player and I don't like robbing people of their stuff. So I don't do that. But what I do do is everything else. I mine, use the ore for my factory, during times of hulkagadon I then missin run level 3 mostly for the loot which I refine with scrap mettle 5 for more minerals for my factory. I also manage planets as well. Got them set to dailey cycles. So I have to pop into them every day to keep them ticking over. As a solo player I just created my own company which only I'm in it. But hopefully I might be able to build it up later souly for mission runners and mining ops. But I play this game as I like to call it. On the cusp. I play it to keep my skills trained. I like to set things in motion so that I'm making isk whilst I'm not there. So I can go off and do other things. Just come on now and again to set skill training, manage planets, set off new install jobs, or if I need some isk ASAP like to buy the next skill book, ship or materials then I'll do a quick spot of level 3 mission running or mining.

If you like PvP or PvE faction war is a way to quickly gain war targets for free, new missions that as of now can be soloed and a chance to meet people on a more casual level.

I wanted to paint my space ship red, but I couldn't find enough goats.

What are you looking for?

Do you want to get rich? Start by building a nest egg of ISK and studying the market. identify a commodity that you could make a big profit from moving around or producing / reselling and start on your path to becoming a market tycoon.

Do you want to get real, bona-fide thrills and adrenaline rushes from the game? Start learning the game's combat mechanics, buy a few dozen rifters, fit them cheap, and go to town in low or nullsec. You'll die a lot, that goes away. So does the shaky hands. The thrill doesn't, though.

Do you want to learn as much as you can about EVE? Join EVE University or a comparable corp specializing in something, like Agony does for PvP. You'll learn a lot, and probably make a lot of friends in the process.

Do you want to watch and take part in epic fleet battles? Ships blasting away at each other en masse? Run level 4 missions or join a nullsec alliance. Either way, you'll find yourself shooting at a few dozen to few thousand ships. One is particularly more thrilling than the other, but missioning can be very fun for a little while (before you burn out on it, they get repetitive).

You can do pretty much anything you want to in EVE. All that is necessary is setting your mind to it, and working towards your goal, just like in real life. Expecting things to come to you only guarantees boredom and stagnation.

Rifters, man. You gotta get some Rifters!

Given your 12 hour playtime per week, if you're after PvP I'd suggest (as others have) a stack of T1 frigs. You can hit spots like Hevrice (Tuskers), Helid (Black Rebel Rifter Club), or Amamake (everyone and their mother, generally at the same time). Most of the time you'll be fighting flashies, so with just a little bit of care you won't lose sec status.

It's probably the cheapest adrenalin rush to be found.

I feel you on the long corp history. I have the same problem finding corps that I feel comfortable hanging around for longer than a few months due to my limited play time now. My solution was similar to a few others above.

I keep a tall stack of Rifters fitted and ready to go in a few key lowsec systems in the event i feel like a bit of piracy and drinking cause that's how I lived when I did the corp thing. Most times though I live with my alt in null sec doing exploration sites and occasional WH expeditions. With both alts in Tengus, one combat and one combat / tackle / data salvage, I can make several hundred mill in a few hours on a good night. This works for me and keeps things from getting stale as you never know what you are going to run into, good or bad, out in the black.

Hah! now this guy I like and can relate to.
I am a solo player with 6 accounts. Depending on what I feel like doing decides which toons I log on to.
If it's mining then I drag the toons with the highwall and the Michis out. If it's missions then 3 other toons with a maxed out FC are on call to decimate level 4's and clean up the salvage so that my industrialist/science toons can build me as many T3 ships and parts as I need.
This game is excellent for antisocials like me, it's just a case of getting the right ballance of toons and having the correct medication to handle the attacks of shizophrenia.
I was once in a corp and went wormhole with them. The CEO was not the brightest and most of us lost our ships because he got the agro settings wrong on the POS.

If you want to play solo then you're going to require alts to do it. I find that the more "solo" players usually have between 3 and 8 alts (accounts) to suit their needs.

Many people are going to disagree that one requires more accounts to play solo. They would be correct to an extent. WIthout an army of alts and depending on which area of the game you're interested in, your efficacy will be extremely limited.

And yet you fail to show how vital those alts are (because they arent).

Solo PvP isn't for everyone since you need to be able to think for yourself and also accept that you will see losses regularly. A string of losses can be quite off-putting. Having said that, when you explode some ships knowing it was the tackle/bait for a group of players and you outsmarted them all by yourself It's awesome. Slaves to FC's will never understand or experience this.

Solo PVE is easy but bores me to tears these days. Find a way to make passive income and only log in when you want to pew.

This is not true. I have one alt only... and with the exception of gate camping the alt is more trouble than he's worth to fly in support. It takes one account to play this game. Only one. You want to branch out go ahead... but to speak of 'efficiency' requires a goal and with regards to mining or something stupid that may be the case. However, nothing is more efficient imho than only having to split the loot one way. If the players are who you play against... it only takes one. ...unless they bring friends... then it only takes one to run away! Big smile

The only way to play EVE online is solo

You can have ingame friends but for the majority of the time you have to be solo.

If you can make it big solo then you play like a Boss

Thanks for the help

Don't sit here and tell everyone you only need one account to do whatever you want to do. It's not true unless your idea of playing the game is sticking your thumb up your bum for most of the time you're online. The man is talking about solo play. Having a lot of friends around to help you achieve your goals is not solo play.

For example, w-space. You might need to close your outgoing/incoming wh's for security reasons. If it happens to be a busy day that could be as many as 6 wh's. Now, you're going to tell us that you're going to solo close 6 holes that at best will take you about half an hour for each? Or go solo an anomaly for 45 minutes and see how many you can abandon in a row when you see someone on dscan, if you're that lucky. Raise thumb, insert into anus. When the warm fuzzy sensation is gone you've had enough Eve solo with one account, mmm'kay?
