WTH is wrong with lvl4 mission enemy cruisers ?

NPCs don't follow the normal rules. I've been hit with torpedoes from NPC ships at nearly 100km range before.

And if you really want to shoot them that far, a stealth bomber can hit with Javelin torpedoes beyond 100km away with range rigs, assuming you can manage to lock a target that far away. It's not really useful, but it's possible.


Tried with stealth boomber, but as soon as I left warp my cloak failed due to freakin' phaenomena, got scrambled and spammed with missiles to death in just 5 secs. There was no way to approach the location with a distance in that mission.

What about warping there with stabs, dropping a bookmark and warping out? Then you can return at required range to the BM in your ship of choice.

Assuming you can warp to range to a BM.

npcs have no grid, no cap, no slots. they can carry an arbitrary amount of weapons and (often more than 8) and boost/repair at fixed intervals (little bit randomized).

however they are stupid as bread - even the sleepers

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

The mission I was doing I think was "Unauthorised presence..." or something similar, where I jump to location and they already wait for me. There's no accel gate there, they just spawn group by group.

I was flying Mega with rails fitted, didn't have any sensor booster installed, and got dampened to 0 by all three cruisers, as I couldn't target anything, even 1km close to me, including those cruisers.

BS was obviously a big mistake, I should have taken HAC for that with better resolution.

I think it's not right that they give those NPCs such capabilities, as it defeats the purpose of tactical configurations.
But maybe they just want to stop people playing lvl 4 missions solo.

Unauthorized military presence likely... yea that may happen. I don't think it's nerf - occasionally, mission you happen to run regularly without any issues is from time to time for seemingly no reason much harder. I had problems like this in Assault(and more than once failed to save the ship), overconfidence can kill. Much more missions where damp was too much (Recon 1 comes to mind, both pockets) but there I could jump out as I was not scrambled, and I recall some cases where I could not hit anything, but tank held and stupid dampers closed in till I could kill them.

Doing missions with a Rail Fit mega isn't the best thing to be running lvl 4 missions with for a start. The rail fit sniper mega has advantages in PvP, but leave it out of missions.

I was running level 4 missions, ALL level 4 missions in a Duel repped myrm. Granted drone boats are slower in doing missions, but its more than capable to orbit something and go afk (providing triggers are dealt with). ALL level 4 missions are solo able. If someone tells you they aren't, its because they have no idea as well.

If you ever have a chance to do some of the Epic mission arcs, esp the Syndication one, you will come across some of the most bad ass battleships that travel at about 2k ms, yes that's right, multiple MWD BS that will be on your ass if you are not prepared in a matter of seconds, and they do ALOT more dmg than any BS i have ever come across. So in relation to your original question, NPC rats don't generally follow the same rules as player based ships. Granted they are similar but some are also set up in that specific way to add that lvl of difficulty to a mission.

Think about that bloody serp one, I cant remember the name off the top of my head since its been a long time since I was missioning, but its a single room, with a **** load of spawns that occur after you kill the trigger ship. The cruisers that spawn will dampen you to <10km. Unless you specificity outfit for each mission, this kind of thing happens all the time.
