Is it worth it?

I know this is really a question only I can answer, but I figure it's still worthwhile to get some insight. Right now my plan for this character is a Hulk asap and then general purpose alt after. (Cyno, scout, hauler, maybe Freighter) When this gal climbed out of the fresh clone vat yesterday, I just plugged all of the skills to beeline to a Hulk into EVEMon and used the remap it suggested (26 Int, 28 Per, 17 Cha, 20 Will, 20 Mem).

EVEMon doesn't seem to be able to take my Cerebral Accelerator into account for skill plans, but without it says this'll put me in a Hulk 45 days and 11 hours from now. I played around with the calculator and if I remapped to Int/Memory right now, trained the skills to get Mining Barge up to III for the Retriever and Astrogeology V, then remapped to Per/Will to train Barge to V for the Hulk I'd wind up saving 10 whole days. Of course, it might actually wind up being more or less time saved depending on how much the +3 from my Accelerator is affecting it.

So, I'd be saving 10 days and then I'd be stuck with Perception/Willpower for a year. Not the worst remap to be on by a long shot, but there are still a buttload of Int/Mem things I need to train as a fresh character - in fact, as a non combat pilot, I'm pretty certain Per/Will might wind up actually being an awful remap to be stuck on. Straight But that's where I'm not entirely sure.
Of course none of this would have been an issue if I didn't already use my initial remap. Sad

Soooooo... what would you guys recommend? Smile

Never burn a remap, just so you can save 10 days. Look at a 1 year plan and try to get big chunks of time out of a remap. (5 months and better)

For most first year players, a hardline map is not really a good idea. You have too many things to train, and most often don't even know what you REALLY want.

EVEMON calcs wont lie. Do a 1 year plan and see what it recommends. If you split your maps into *4 months for this, 8 months for that*, try and plan ahead and predict what comes after. For instance: If your second map is for industry skills, and you think your 8 months might turn into 11 months, you could start accumulating remap time that is better managed.
