This is a bad thread about a bad ship and a bad fitting for it and you should feel bad for it.

[Pilgrim, Pilgrim]

I made the mistake of buying one of these (basically the same fit except 2nd TD instead of MWD) before I had any idea what to do with it and had trouble figuring out what it was good for beyond ganking ratters. On the ganking ratters front, it was a disappointment; getting the initial tackle was easy, but about 70% of the ratters I encountered were Drakes/Tengus and my first experience with trying to kill one of those was my Pilgrim deep in structure while the Drake was only entering armor.

I refit for shields, just ******* around with different fits and lost it to a stealth bomber gang v0v.

tl;dr I could never figure out a role where the Pilgrim would shine.

I was being serious. In a straight up fight, a (range-bonused) Curse is better. For ganking ratters (especially Drakes) a stealth bomber is better.

I know. I have only found success when the ship when I dual-box and have a Falcon complementing me. For WH PvP this is one of the best ships that there is. It's great with a Falcon.

Bombers are really fragile. A set of Warrior IIs is likely to be really unpleasant. Are you running an active tanked Purifier or something?

For the Pilgrim you need Recon 5. It is a ship that requires patience to fly, can dominate an opponent, but if something goes wrong you will die quickly. My hit list in the Pilgrim includes:

Demios
Zealot
Vaga
Pretty much most combat stuff cruisers and below
All BC's except Drake
Typhoon
Malestrom

And about a few hundred million ISK in people not wanting to lose their ships.

I am a lowsec dweller and will pick a direction and just fly until I find some targets.

The expensive version:

[Pilgrim, Pilgrim]
800mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
Internal Force Field Array I
True Sansha Adaptive Nano Plating
True Sansha Adaptive Nano Plating
Imperial Navy Medium Armor Repairer

Republic Fleet 10MN Afterburner
Balmer Series Tracking Disruptor I, Tracking Speed Disruption
Domination Stasis Webifier
Domination Warp Scrambler
Medium Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800

Medium Energy Neutralizer II
Medium Energy Neutralizer II
Sisters Expanded Probe Launcher, Core Scanner Probe I
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II

Medium Egress Port Maximizer I
Medium Gravity Capacitor Upgrade I

Hammerhead II x5
Hobgoblin II x5
Warrior II x5
Vespa EC-600 x5

The low rent version:
[Pilgrim, Lowsec]
Medium Armor Repairer II
800mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
Damage Control II
Co-Processor II
Adaptive Nano Plating II

10MN Afterburner II
Balmer Series Tracking Disruptor I, Tracking Speed Disruption
Stasis Webifier II
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I
Medium Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I, Cap Booster 800

Medium Energy Neutralizer II
Medium Energy Neutralizer II
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
Sisters Expanded Probe Launcher, Sisters Combat Scanner Probe I

Medium Egress Port Maximizer I
Medium Gravity Capacitor Upgrade I

I've never really had the need to fit dual-prop on a pilgrim, mwd is essential to deal with gates and camps etc, but you should be td'ing your target so much that the extra transversal an AB provides you is not needed.

If you drop the AB you can fit a 3rd medium neut, which helps a lot for alpha-striking your targets cap.

All this depends on what you're using the Pilgrim for, I used mine for ganking mostly.

Haha, thanks - I used Johnny Cash because some corpmates gave me **** about using Eminem in Amamake Fun I. I know they were looking for dubstep or techno, but nuts to that dammit!

MSE + DC2 Purifier w/ afterburner. On-paper the Drake should win, but it works on TQ.

Ah nice. I happen to know that MSE Manticore w/AB will let you survive vs a Binger if you can hug his face and avoid those nasty guns. Gonna try to get more footage and put together a solo bomber vs BC movie going.

Ooooh! A Pilgrim thread! I was thinking about buying one for solo low sec. Well... This is the fit I came up with :S bought a Low-Grade Talisman set just for shiggles as well. Not entirely sure I'm going to use it yet, but we'll see. All fits with Recon 5. Egress ports help the Talismans, so neuts get reduced cycle time (less cap for the other guy :D ) and less cap cost for you. Been looking to build on this though. I've been seeing a bit of Pilgrim hate :( makes me sad. Also, do prefer medium neuts to small neuts. Saw a couple of small neut fits around, but they only seem good for neuting small stuff :| Can't decide if the second MAR is needed, relatively happy with the rest of the fit. Saw a probing fit in here which looks interesting. Going to play around with that... Saves having a dedicated prober...

I'll just leave this here.

Not completely dead, though I prefer to have the 800 plate over the second MAR for the buffer it gives when killing their drones, letting the neuts work, etc. Double MAR repairs more, but lacks that buffer I like.

As far as flying in lowsec, these are typically the rules I follow:

1. Never engage at a celestial unless it is a very quiet system and the target has no friends with very few in local. NEVER fight on gates!

2. NPC DPS is good DPS!

3. Caracals and most missle/rocket frigs are fine to engage, you kill them quickly. Drakes, Cerbs, Tengus are a bad idea. Cruise Ravens are ok if you feel you can take them.

4. TD the target, sic your drones on their drones first, they are your biggest threat.

5. If it has turrets, kill it!
