standings and me

I've poked around a bit on forums and wikis, and haven't really found anything that answers my questions. No bites in the help channel ;)

When I first started, I did some missioning. The courier missions were boring, so I didn't do those too much. But the combat ones were nice. I like shooting lasers. So now Sanshas, Blood Raiders, Guristas and such hate me, which I'm ok with, but so do Minmatar (-5.89), Gallente (-3.84), even ORE (-1.21). I don't know what I did to ORE, but it must have been heinous.

I can still get to places like Jita, so I am not hugely worried. But what are the impacts to my gameplay from my negative standings? When I travel through Min empire space, I assume they will attack me as their enemy, as I have seen others get blown up by the navy.

1. Can I travel through their space? How much time do I have to warp? Does gate cloak protect me? What about the cloak module?
2. Can I hang out by their planets and asteroids?
3. Can I use their stations?

Thanks for any help!

http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Standings_mechanics#Quick_Standings_Reference_Table should answer most of your questions.

The answer to 3 will always be yes, always. 1 (and I think 2) depends on how negative your standings are (KOS at -5 though).

For info on how to repair your standings, this guide is what you're looking for.

Thanks mxzf. I'm mostly interested in travel though. For the KoS factions, am I ok if I just book it from gate to gate? If I'm going 20 jumps to somewhere, I'd rather not find out the really hard way. Faction navy isn't Concord, I know people make it through, but I also know some don't.

In a fast ship, yes.

With bigger ships, it depends. I find it easier to get around Minmatar space, as they web you for a few seconds before warp disrupting, which helps with your alignment. I've gotten around Minmatar space in a Typhoon that way before. I wouldn't try that with Gallente/Caldari/Amarr, though.

A figure that I've found useful is 4.5 seconds. If your ship can align in under 4.5 seconds, you are good to go. You might take a shot (in bigger ships), but that's it. Over that, and you are risking it.

As Petrus said, it depends on how quick you can warp. Frigs and most cruisers/BCs should be fine, anything much bigger gets more risky. Also, AP is a big no-no, since you need to be constantly using WTZ to minimize the time you spend in any given system.

I will add that no matter how bad your standings are with a faction, your always safe in your pod from NPC Navy stuff.

NPC will NEVER pod you, only players will. So someone with a -10 standing to for instance Minmatar can easily cruise through Minmatar space in it's pod. Believe (but not sure) the same counts for shuttles, but even if they go after shuttles those things align and warp way to quick to be held down by point / webs.

Yes the 4.5seconds is a general known thing of getting safe of gates, also counts against players who are after you. If you can align and start your warp within 4.5seconds it means people will have a really really hard time to lock you and active any module on you within that time.

Formula to calculate your time to warp is:

T = I * M * 10^6 * -ln(0.25)

T = Time till you enter warp
I = Inertia modifier (it's shown in fitting window, navigation part > middle number IIRC)
M = Mass of the ship in tons (again fitting window, navigation part > left number IIRC)

Also if you have terrible standings with a faction and you are to be shot on sight, I believe they will hunt you throughout the entire system (so also in belts and on planets).
