Did you mean "PEBKAC" ?

Also, why do people who has not experienced the same error as I and others have (now) try to either 1 call us idiots, or 2 doubting our experiences? If I say the client installation has been messed up twice in a row there is no reason for others to try to deny it, or is it?

@Stephaine Sun: I think the reason why repair.exe isnt working is because the eve client is still running after that error.

I had the last patch mess up my client as well. I had to download a 5gb client because the repair couldn't alter a 700kb file. I am now keeping a spare copy of my install around in case I need to backtrack/copy files. I wish ccp would allow non-os/hardware specific files to be downloaded separately for people who can tell what's wrong from the repair tool to not have to download all 5gb of client. That's an entire month's bandwidth for a lot of people

In case you are running into the verification issue:

  1. After you close verification error message check your Windows Task Manager for any ExeFile.exe processes and end those processes.
  2. Run the Client Repair Tool - if the Repair Tool fails try re-running it as Administrator.

I did indeed as was being ironic ...
however - I reckon that it will be an eve process still running that makes the update fail - used to happen to me when running more than one client occasionally - now I've not had this in a couple of years so YMMV

I too got a corrupting error when patching and another when running the repair tool.
Re-running the repair.exe as admin did fixed it after manually killing a persistent "ExeFile.exe" in task manager.

So, anyone having the same corrupted data should try doing that before going for the 5Gb marathon.

See above :) ... my experience, too. I finally had to download a new Repair Tool (CCP Sputnik ty for link).
Saved lots of time and bandwidth

Hold Shift and right click on repair.exe. Then select "Run as Administrator'
Also repair download link on evelopedia is outdated. You may want to download 3.39 version: http://cdn1.eveonline.com/client_repair/339/repair.exe
